Unit of The Week: Great Flash, Iseult

In response to the great sword, the flash becomes an impenetrable shield.

[G guardian] (Usable when both fighters’ vanguards are grade 3 or greater, and the number of face up G guardians in your G zone is three or less)-Opponent Turn’s Guard Step-[Choose a card with “Heal” from your hand, and discard it] Call this card to your (GC) from face down.
[AUTO]:[Counter Blast (1)] When this unit is placed on (GC), if you have a vanguard with “Alfred” or “Blaster” in its card name, you may pay the cost. If you do, this unit gets [Shield]+5000 for each of your rear-guards until end of that battle.

Great Flash, Iseult is a Royal Paladin and G-Guardian with a single effect. This card only supports Alfred and Blaster. Great Flash, Iseult has the potential to create an iron wall of defense. Her shield can stop powerful attacks from the competition.

Anime:

Great Flash, Iseult has one appearance in Cardfight!! Vanguard G. Aichi Sendou plays this card against Chrono Shindou in the 27th episode of Cardfight!! Vanguard G NEXT. Great Flash, Iseult successfully blocks a powerful attack from Chronojet Dragon.

Defensive Ability:

Great Flash, Iseult creates an icon wall of defense with her effective ability. Great Flash, Iseult’s shield of 15,000 gains 5,000 power for each rear-guard on the field. She has an amazing defense when you have a full field of rear-guards.

For example, Great Flash, Iseult’s shield becomes 40,000 when you have five rear-guards. A shield of this size can block many attacks in the game. She provides more defensive value than a heel trigger on its own.

Furthermore, Great Flash, Iseult only supports the archetypes of Alfred and Blaster. Both archetypes gain a lot of benefits from this card. They superior call units to the field. You should be able to consistently create shields between 30,000 to 40,000.

Protect Your Blasters:

You want to protect your rear-guards for the amazing defense from Great Flash, Iseult. You can protect Blasters with Blaster Arrow. The ability of Blaster Arrow prevents the opponent from using any effects against your Blasters, and you need six Blasters with different names. Therefore, you get the full value of Great Flash, Iseult.

Play these cards with Great Flash, Iseult!

Weakness:

Great Flash, Iseult is heavily dependent on your number of rear-guards on the field. Her ability does not provide a lot of value if you do not have many rear-guards on the field. Her shield’s value of 15,000 would be weaker than a heel trigger from the V series.

Furthermore, clans such as Kagero, Link Joker, and Narukami can neutralize Great Flash, Iseult. These clans’ specialty is removing or locking the opponent’s rear-guards on the field. They force you to seek different options for defense.

Card Rating:

Overall, Great Flash, Iseult is a great defensive card for Alfred and Blasters. I recommend playing one to two copies of her in your G-deck. Her defense can save you in a tight spot. She is a useful card against opposing vanguards that disallow perfect guards from your hand. Great Flash, Iseult creates the powerful shield to block those powerful opponents.
