First Effect:
You may reveal Masked HERO Furnace in your hand, and add one Polymerization or Mask Change from the deck to your hand. The effect’s resolution requires you to discard one card from your hand. This effect adds consistency for fusion summons in decks with HERO. The archetype centers its strategy around fusion monsters.
A deck with Masked HERO should include Mask Change. This quick-play spell card fusion summons Masked Heroes from the extra deck with only one monster for its material. This effect monster sets up these fusion monsters when you add Mask Change to your hand.
In addition, Polymerization is a great option with this effect if your deck is playing Elemental HERO and Destiny HERO. A unique disadvantage is an opponent with Masked HERO in a mirror match. Masked HERO Dark Law counters Masked HERO Furnace. This fusion monster chooses a card from the opponent’s hand and discards it when the opponent activates an effect to add a card from the deck to the hand. For instance, Masked HERO Furnace adds Mask Change to your hand but Masked HERO Dark Law forces you to discard a card. It may send your Mask Change to the graveyard if the opponent chooses that card.
In addition, Gravekeeper’s has an advantage against Masked HERO Furnace. The archetype’s field spell card of Necrovalley negates Masked HERO Furnace’s effect to special summon itself from the graveyard. Necrovalley negates all effects that move cards in the graveyard to a different place in the game. It also counters the strategy to discard a HERO to the graveyard with the intent to special summon it or use it as fusion material from the graveyard.
