Masked HERO Blast is one of the many fusion monsters from Masked HERO. This fusion monster can be an effective card under the right circumstances. It counters the opponent’s strategy. Masked HERO Blast weakens an opponent’s monster. This fusion monster also returns the opponent’s spells and traps from the field to their hand.

First Effect:
Masked HERO Blast weakens an opponent’s monster. Masked HERO Blast halves the attack points of an opponent’s monster when you special summon Masked HERO Blast. This effect can potentially give your monsters an advantage in battle.
Furthermore, Masked HERO Blast can be an effective card against monsters with high attack points. This effect weakens powerful monsters such as Cyber End Dragon and Odin, Father of the Aesir. For instance, the first effect of Masked HERO Blast halves the attack points of Cyber End Dragon to 2,000.
In addition, Masked HERO Blast can be part of a strategy against a powerful monster. An opponent may summon a powerful monster such as Tyrant Red Dragon Archfiend with 3,500 attack points. Then, you may special summon Masked HERO Blast during your next turn and halve the attack points of Tyrant Red Dragon Archfiend to 1,750. Then, Masked HERO Blast can destroy Tyrant Red Dragon Archfiend in battle!
Second Effect:
Masked HERO Blast affects the opponent’s spell and trap zone. Masked HERO Blast returns an opponent’s spell or trap from the field to their hand for the cost of 500 life points, and you may activate this effect once per turn. This is a quick-effect. You can activate it during either player’s turn. The timing of your decision can be based on the type of card.
Furthermore, Masked HERO Blast is an effective card against continuous spells and traps. Continuous spells and traps normally remain on the field until an effect removes them from the field. It removes the opponent’s advantage from a continuous trap for at least one turn. If you return an opponent’s continuous spell from the field to their hand with this effect of Masked HERO Blast during your turn, then the opponent must wait until their next turn to play it.
In addition, this effect of Masked HERO Blast is an advantage against most trap cards. Most trap cards cannot be activated during the same turn when you set them. Masked HERO Blast can return trap cards such as Amazoness Onslaught and Call of the Haunted to the opponent’s hand. The opponent must set the trap card again and wait an additional turn to activate it.
However, the second effect of Masked HERO Blast has a few flaws. It does not negate effects. An opponent can activate a normal spell and its effect. It would provide little value for a player to activate Masked HERO Blast’s effect in this situation because the opponent gains the advantage from the normal spell’s effects.
Special Summon: Mask Change
Masked HERO Blast must be special summoned by Mask Change like all fusion monsters of Masked HERO. Mask Change requires one HERO with the same attribute of the fusion monster. Masked HERO Blast has the attribute of Wind. Many HERO monsters have the attribute of Wind.
In addition, Mask Change II can also special summon Masked HERO Blast from the extra deck. This special summon by Mask Change II is treated as a special summon with Mask Change. Mask Change II requires its player to discard a card. Then, you send one face-up monster under your control with a level to the graveyard and special summon a Masked HERO with the same attribute and a higher level than the monster in the graveyard.
For instance, Elemental HERO Stratos is a great option with Mask Change for Masked HERO Blast. You may normal or special summon Elemental HERO Stratos for its effect to add a HERO from the deck to your hand. Then, you may activate Mask Change and target Elemental HERO Stratos. Then, you special summon Masked HERO Blast.

Support: Special Summon
HERO has many methods to special summon Masked HERO Blast. Cards such as Form Change and Magistery Alchemist can special summon Masked HERO Blast. These cards have useful effects when you need an option to play this fusion monster.
Form Change is a quick-play spell card for Masked HERO. Form Change returns one HERO fusion monster to the extra deck, and it special summons a Masked HERO fusion monster with the same level as the original monster but with a different name from your extra deck. Therefore, Form Change can special summon Masked HERO Blast from the extra deck. Magistery Alchemist banishes four HERO monsters from your graveyard or face-up on the field and special summons a HERO while ignoring the HERO’s summoning conditions. It also doubles the HERO’s attack points if you banish a fire, water, wind, and earth monster. As a result, Magistery Alchemist can special summon Masked HERO Blast from the graveyard and double its attack points to 4,400 if you banish a fire, water, wind, and earth monster.

Matchups: Advantages
Masked HERO Blast has an advantage against decks with many spells and traps. This card counters those types of strategies. This fusion monster can return those types of cards to the opponent’s hand. The opponent must play those cards again and some of those cards may require a cost.
Masked HERO Blast has an advantage against the deck of Call of the Haunted. This deck of zombies focuses its strategy on the Call of the Haunted. The second effect of Masked HERO Blast can return Call of the Haunted from the field to its owner’s hand. This strategy also destroys any monster that was special summoned by Call of the Haunted because the trap has left the field.
Matchups: Weaknesses
The main weakness of Masked HERO Blast is negating its effects. Many cards in Yu-Gi-Oh! can negate effects. Some monsters with high attack points can prevent the first effect of this fusion summon from lowering their attack points. Some of these monsters can negate the effects of Masked HERO Blast.
For example, Blue-Eyes Ultimate Spirit Dragon counters Masked HERO Blast with its effect. Blue-Eyes Ultimate Spirit Dragon can negate the activation of either effect from Masked HERO Blast. Therefore, an opponent can activate the effect of Blue-Eyes Ultimate Spirit Dragon to prevent Masked HERO Blast from halving this synchro monster’s attack points.
Card Rating:
Overall, Masked HERO Blast is a utility card for HERO. This card can be an effective card in the right situation. You may special summon this fusion monster when you need to weaken an opponent’s powerful monster. This fusion monster disrupts the opponent’s strategy by returning their spells and traps to their hand. Therefore, I recommend playing one copy of Masked HERO Blast in your extra deck.
