Unit of The Week: Melody Mutant, Nelnympha

A melody of death that draws you towards the underworld from a life of hardship.

[CONT](VC/RC):During your turn, if a Cradle marker is on your opponent’s rear-guards, this unit gets [Power]+6000.
[AUTO]:When retired from (RC) by your card’s ability, COST [Soul Blast (1)], choose one of your opponent’s rear-guards without any Cradle marker, and put a Cradle marker on it. (That unit loses its original ability, gets its [Power] reduced by its original [Power], cannot boost nor intercept, and when it is retired, you search your deck for up to one card with the same grade as that unit, reveal it and put it into your hand, and shuffle your deck)

Melody Mutant, Nelnympha is a female insect from Megocolony. This unit supports the theme of Cradle marker from V Booster Set 10: Phantom Dragon Aeon. This grade 2 unit and other members of Megacolony trap the opposing rear-guards in the web of the Cradle marker. Melody Mutant, Nelnympha has two abilities to assist her comrades on the field.

First Ability:

Melody Mutant, Nelnympha gains 6,000 if an opponent has a Cradle marker. She becomes a rear-guard or vanguard with 15,000 power, and this is a respectable offense. Therefore, Melody Mutant, Nelnympha without a boost may hit any vanguard in battle.

You can easily fulfill this ability’s requirement. Megacolony has a solid amount of units with the ability to create a Cradle marker. Evil Governor, Darkface Gredora (V Series) and Intimidating Mutant, Darkface (V Series) are two units with abilities to consistently create Cradle markers on the opponent’s field.

Furthermore, you can create a strong column with Melody Mutant Nelnympha due to this ability. The back row in the same column with this year needs a grade 1 rear-guard with 8,000 power. A boost from this unit increases the total power of Melody Mutant, Nelnympha to 23,000.

Second Ability:

Melody Mutant, Nelnympha places a Cradle marker on an opponent’s rear-guard when one of your cards’ abilities retires her. This ability balances the lost of this grade 2 unit. You lose a rear-guard, but the opponent also loses many advantages from his or her rear-guard. The Cradle marker will help you to regain your number of resources when you retire the opponent’s unit on the Cradle marker.

Furthermore, this ability creates advantage for your hand. You will add a card with the same grade as the opponent’s rear-guard from the deck in the Cradle marker when an action retires an opponent’s rear-guard in the Cradle marker. You gain a useful resources to further your advantage.

In addition, Evil Governor, Darkface Gredora (V Series) consistently activates this second ability of Melody Mutant, Nelnympha. These cards work well together on the field. Evil Governor, Darkface Gredora (V Series) with her second ability retires a rear-guard. You may retire Melody Mutant, Nelnympha and place a Cradle marker on an opponent’s rear-guard.

Support:

Melody Mutant, Nelnympha has a good amount of support in the V-Premium Format. You may consistently activate both of her abilities. Many units in Megacolony create Cradle markers for this unit’s first ability.

For instance, Intimidating Mutant, Darkface (V Series) places a Cradle marker on an opponent’s rear-guard without a Cradle marker. Intimidating Mutant, Darkface (V Series) starts the momentum with the restrictions on the opposing rear-guard. Then, Melody Mutant, Nelnympha gains the benefits from her first ability, and she gains 6,000 power.
