Unit of The Week: Halo Shield, Mark (V Series)

I’ll not let our brightness be lost!

[CONT]:Sentinel (You may only have up to four cards with “[CONT]:Sentinel” in a deck.)
[AUTO](GC):When placed, COST [discard a card from your hand], and one of your units cannot be hit until end of that battle.

Halo Shield, Mark (V Series) is a Sentinel or Perfect Guard for Gold Paladins. He protects one of your units with his powerful shield in battle. This card is the second version of this unit. This version of the card has the same function of a sentinel. It also has the abilities of a draw trigger.

Draw Trigger:

Halo Shield, Mark (V Series) is part of the group of Sentinels being draw triggers from the V Series. This card has two functions in a deck. It is a trigger with power and the ability to draw card. It is also a sentinel for the perfect defense.

First Ability:

You may only have four sentinel in a deck. This effect only allows four copies of Halo Shield, Mark (V Series) or any combination of sentinel in a deck. It is a standard for every sentinel.

For example, you may play three copies of Halo Shield, Mark (V Series) and one Scarface Lion (V Series) in your deck. This combination of cards is a total of four sentinels in a deck. It is perfectly legal in Cardfight!! Vanguard.

Second Ability:

Halo Shield, Mark (V Series) prevents one of your units from being hit during battle. This ability neutralizes the opponent’s offense. It has a lot of value because it is required when your total shield from the cards in your hand is less than the power of the opponent’s unit. It also saves cards in your hand for defense.

Furthermore, the second ability is a useful effect when the opponent’s vanguard attacks your vanguard. You are able to avoid an opponent’s critical trigger and additional damage from the opposing vanguard. This tactic makes a huge difference for the determination of the winner.

in addition, the wording of this card is very important. You may place Halo Shield, Mark (V Series) from any area of the field, and the ability will activate the effect. This allows cards such as Sunrise Ray Knight, Gurguit (V Series) to superior call this sentinel for the perfect defense.

Support:

Halo Shield, Mark (V Series) perfectly fits in all decks for Gold Paladin. Every deck in the clan needs this card for the perfect defense. Some cards have interactions with this draw trigger.

For instance, Sunrise Ray Knight, Gurguit (V Series) may superior call Halo Shield, Mark (V Series) from the deck to the guardian circle. These units are a dynamic duo on defense. This combination is a good solution if your hand does not have a perfect guard when you need it. You have an opportunity to shut down the opponent’s attack and you may activate the ability of Halo Shield, Mark (V Series) when Sunrise Ray Knight, Gurguit (V Series) superior calls this draw trigger to the guardian circle.

Furthermore, these cards counters cards such as Dragonic Waterfall (V Series) with abilities to prevent you from playing a sentinel from the hand. You may still play a sentinel with this tactic because it does not come from the hand. Sunrise Ray Knight, Gurguit (V Series) bypasses this restriction because he is superior calling Halo Shield, Mark (V Series) from the deck.

Premium Format:

Halo Shield, Mark (V Series) has a lot of potential in the Premium Format. Many units have synergy with this card. Every archetype of Gold Paladin gain benefit from this unit’s perfect defense.

Furthermore, Halo Shield, Mark (V Series) is a better card than the original Halo Shield, Mark. Halo Shield, Mark (V Series) is a draw trigger and he does not take the space of a grade 1 unit in a deck. You have more options for grade 1 units in your deck.

Support:

Gold Paladins have many units with the ability to superior call Halo Shield, Mark (V Series) from the deck to the guardian circle. This is an effective strategy when you do not have a sentinel in the hand and you need one to survive the game. It is also an effective tactic when the opponent’s vanguard does not allow you to call a sentinel from the hand, but many Gold Paladins bypass this restriction with this tactic.

For example, Golden Dragon, Sanctified Dragon looks at the top two cards of the deck and superior calls up to two units to the guardian circle. Gold Dragon, Sanctified Dragon may superior call Halo Shield, Mark (V Series) from the deck. You have the perfect defense to negate an opponent’s attack.
