Unit of The Week: Dragonic Kaiser Vermillion

Go forth and destroy, lightning of the apocalypse! Vermillion Thunderbolt!

[ACT](VC) Limit Break 4 (This ability is active if you have four or more damage):[Counter Blast (3)] Until end of turn, this unit gets [Power]+2000 and “[CONT](VC):This unit battles every unit in your opponent’s front row in one attack.”.

[CONT](VC/RC):If you have a non-«Narukami» vanguard or rear-guard, this unit gets [Power]-2000.

Stand up! The Narukami air-division commander Dragonic Kaiser Vermillion stands before you in battle! Dragonic Kaiser Vermillion is one of the most powerful Narukami units. Vermillion’s Limit Break is deadly! Vermillion can attack the entire front row. The attacked front row units cannot share shields. Thus, the opponent will rarely have enough cards to defend the entire front row.  Furthermore, Vermillion retires possible interceptors. This weakens opponent’s defenses.
However, a good player must know when to activate Vermillion’s Limit Break. The skill will most likely be used once in a game due to its expensive cost. There are tactics available to help turn cards face up in the damage zone. The most obvious way is getting a heal trigger. In addition, a player can use Demonic Dragon Berserker, Garuda‘s skill after Garuda lands a successful attack. Garuda can turn a card face up in the damage zone when its attack hits.
Finally, Dragonic Kaiser Vermillion is a better vanguard than Dragonic Overlord, but Dragonic Overlord is the better rear guard. Both units’ skills focus on retiring rear guards. Vermillion’s skill can only be used as the vanguard, and he retains twin drive. Dragonic Overlord’s skill will cause Dragonic Overlord to lose twin drive if he is the vanguard. On the other hand Dragonic Overlord’s skill can be used as a rear guard, and the player will not lose twin drive.

In Conclusion, Dragonic Kaiser Vermillion is a very powerful card when played correctly. He destroys opponent’s defensive and offensive units in one chaotic attack. He clearly deserves a spot in a Narukami deck.
