Yu-Gi-Oh! Card Review: Vampire Fascinator

Zombie/Link/Effect

ATK/ 2,400 Link/ 3

2+ monsters, including a Zombie monster
If this card is Link Summoned: You can target 1 monster in your opponent’s GY; Special Summon it to your field in Defense Position, also you cannot Special Summon monsters for the rest of this turn, except Zombie monsters. You can Tribute 1 “Vampire” monster, then target 1 monster your opponent controls; take control of it until the End Phase. You can only use each effect of “Vampire Fascinator” once per turn.

Vampire Fascinator is a zombie monster with 2,400 ATK. She is also a link monster with a link rating of three. Vampire Fascinator has two effects, and she supports Vampires and zombies. This link monster’s specialty is using the opponent’s monsters for resources and special summoning them from the graveyard to your field.

First Effect:

Vampire Fascinator special summons a monster in defense position from the opponent’s graveyard when you link summon her. You gain two monsters from a summon. This effect a useful ability because you may use the opponent’s monster for a summon or to pay the cost of an effect.

In addition, this monster can be material for special summons. For instance, Vampire Fascinator may special summon a level five monster from the opponent’s graveyard and Zombie World turns the monster in a zombie. You would be able to XYZ summon Crimson Knight Vampire Bram if you have another level five zombie on the field.

Furthermore, this effect only allows you to special summon zombies for the rest of the turn. This restriction is not a problem. A deck with Vampire Fascinator mostly has zombies. The effect’s restriction will not cause any conflicts, and you may still play your other zombies.

Second Effect:

Vampire Fascinator also allows you to gain control of a monster from the opponent graveyard if you tribute a Vampire. You only have control of this monster for a single turn. Therefore, it would be wise to use it for an attack and material for a special summon during the second main phase.

This effect is a useful ability if your opponent has a powerful monster in his or her graveyard. You can claim the monster for yourself and use it to your advantage. Generic monsters are the best targets because they may not conflict with your deck.

In addition, Vampire Fascinator has synergy with Zombie World. The effect of Zombie World turns all monsters on the field and both graveyards into zombies. Your opponent’s monster under your control fits the material for your monsters. The opponent’s monster under your control for the turn is a zombie with Zombie World on the field.

Vampire Fascinator requires three monsters or a number of cards to a link rating of three. Vampires and zombies have support for the Link Summon. The best strategy is special summoning monsters from the graveyard for material.

An effective card to play alongside Vampire Fascinator is Plaguespreader Zombie. You want a Link summon to be an easy summon, and this monster fits the idea. Plaguespreader Zombie special summons itself from the graveyard, and you have an additional card for your Link Summon.
