Yu-Gi-Oh! Card Review: Secret Six Samurai – Genba

[Warrior/Tuner/Effect]

ATK/500 DEF/2,100

When this card is Normal Summoned: You can target 1 of your banished “Six Samurai” monsters; add it to your hand. If exactly 1 “Six Samurai” monster you control (and no other cards) would be destroyed by card effect, you can banish this card from your GY instead.

Secret Six Samurai – Genba is a member of the Six Samurai. This warrior is a tuner monster with the attribute of fire. He has two effects. He provides supports to all members of the Six Samurai.

First Effect:

Secret Six Samurai – Genba adds a Six Samurai monster from the banished zone to your hand when you normal summon him. He provides a useful card. You have the opportunity to summon the card again and create a new combo. The monster in your hand may set up a fusion summon, XYZ summon, or Link summon.

This ability compliments Secret Six Samurai – Rihan. Secret Six Samurai – Rihan banishes a Six Samurai from your hand or field to banish an opponent’s card. You may regain access to this monster. Secret Six Samurai – Genba returns your card to your hand with a second opportunity to play it.

However, this effect has a limitation because you must normal summon Secret Six Samurai – Genba to activate the effect. Many Six Samurais and their support special summon Six Samurais to the field. This monster does not have perfect chemistry with these cards. You may special summon Secret Six Samurai – Genba, but you are unable to activate this effect.

Second Effect:

Secret Six Samurai – Genba provides value in the graveyard. You may banish this monster from the graveyard to prevent the opponent destroying one Six Samurai. You can protect key a monster for your strategy.

However, you will not be able to activate this effect if an effect destroys multiple cards. An Opponent may play a card such as Dark Hole or Raigeki, and these spell cards destroy multiple cards. You would not be able to activate Secret Six Samurai – Genba’s effect. He would not be able to prevent the destruction of your monster.

Synchro Material:

Secret Six Samurai – Genba is also a tuner monster at level two. His main objective is synchro summoning Secret Legendary Six Samurai – Shi En. You have one of the best monsters in the archetype on the field.

You may synchro summon Legendary Six Samurai – Shi En with Secret Six Samurai – Genba and Legendary Six Samurai – Kageki. These cards set the field for the synchro summon. Legendary Six Samurai – Kageki special summons Secret Six Samurai – Genba, and the materials for the synchro summon are on the field. Then, you may synchro summon Legendary Six Samurai – Shi En.

  • Legendary Six Samurai – Shi En

Fusion Material:

Secret Six Samurai – Genba is fusion material for Secret Six Samurai Rihan. You need three Six Samurais with different attributes. This fusion requires contact fusion with all three monsters on the field. You need Secret Six Samurai – Genba and two other Six Samurais with different attributes.

Play these fusion monsters with Secret Six Samurai – Genba:

Support:

Secret Six Samurai – Genba has excellent support from his fellow Six Samurais. Many cards have chemistry with this warrior. You can create strong combos such as setups for summons.

Some cards may special summon Secret Six Samurai – Genba. For instance, Shien’s Dojo may special summon Secret Six Samurai from the deck. This spell card will not activate this monster’s first ability. Shien’s Dojo does places him on the field and you may use him as material for a fusion.

Play these cards with Secret Six Samurai – Genba!
  • Gateway of the Six
  • Shien’s Dojo

Card Rating:

All in all, Secret Six Samurai – Genba is a good card for Six Samurai for decks with Secret Six Samurai – Rihan. Your banished monsters are the key to this card’s value. Secret Six Samurai – Genba recycles resources to your hand, and you may replay those cards. I recommend playing three copies of Secret Six Samurai – Genba in a deck.
