Dark Paladin is one of the most popular Fusion Monsters from the original Yu-Gi-Oh! anime. Dark Paladin is a fusion of the Dark Magician and Buster Blader. He debuted in episode 134. Yugi played this powerful card to defeat Kaiba in the Battle City semi-finals. He only makes two appearances in the animated series.

Play these cards with Dark Paladin!

Dark Paladin’s first effect negates the activation of a Spell Card, and destroys it. Also, you must discard one card to pay for the cost of the effect. This effect is great against many cards. You can negate powerful Spell Cards such as Dark Hole and Monster Reborn. You can shut down an opponent’s strategy with this skill alone.

The second effect is what made Dark Paladin a famous card. He gains 500 ATK for each Dragon on field and in both players’ graveyards. Players with Dragon decks far this card. Dark Paladin’s ATK can rise to unbelievable levels of power. If both graveyards share a total of six dragons, then Dark Paladin’s ATK raises to 5,900.

Furthermore, I always play one copy of Dark Paladin in a Dark Magician deck. I like having options to counter particular decks and strategies. He is the perfect card to counter decks with Dragons such as Blue-Eyes White Dragon. He uses my opponents’ resources against them. Then, I can deal serious damage to my opponent.

Fusion Summon

Finally, you can summon easily summon Dark Paladin with only two cards as Buster Blader is no longer required. You only need one Dark Magician and The Eye of Timaeus. The Eye of Timaeus is a substitute for Polymerization and Buster Blader. It becomes fusion material for a Fusion Monster that lists Dark Magician for fusion material. This makes it much easier to special summon Dark Paladin.

How to Fusion Summon Dark Paladin:
  1. Summon one Dark Magician
  2. Play The Eyes of Timaeus
  3. Fusion Summon Dark Paladin

Overall, Dark Paladin is one of the few cards to stand the test of time. This card is still amazing in today’s game. He has a rightful place in every extra deck for a Dark Magician deck. He is the perfect counter to any Dragon deck. I always play one copy of this legendary warrior in my deck.
