Unit of The Week: Waving Deletor, Greidhol

Waving Deletor, Greidhol

Forget about everything. That way, you won’t be hurt.

[CONT](VC):Your opponent’s rear-guards cannot move to other (RC).
[AUTO](VC):When placed, COST [Counter Blast (1) & Soul Blast (1)], choose one of your opponent’s rear-guards, and bind it face down. If you rode from a grade 3, delete your opponent’s vanguard, and this unit gets [Critical]+1 until end of turn. (Until the end of that fighter’s turn, the deleted unit is turned face down, and loses its [Power] and text)

Waving Deletor, Greidhol is the vilest and fiercest Deletor. This monster is a creature from nightmares. His abilities will also give your opponent nightmares. He is Kouji Ibuki’s avatar and ace card in Cardfight!! Vanguard. His signature attack is Vanish Delete!

Standard Format

Waving Deletor, Greidhol’s first skill prevents your opponent from moving rear-guards to another rear-guard circle. This skill forces your opponent to call units to replace their vanished rear-guards. You can delete your opponent’s rear-guard in the front row, and the rear-guard in the back row is unable to move to the front row. The skill is also useful against Aqua Force. It prevents many Aqua Force units from using their abilities to switch circles during combat.

Waving Deletor, Greidhol’s true potential is revealed when he becomes your second grade 3 vanguard. His second skill deletes one of your opponent’s rear-guards. Then, he deletes your opponent’s vanguard and gains one critical if he rides on top of a grade 3 vanguard. This skill sends intense pressure at your weaken opponent. Waving Deletor, Greidhol is swinging two criticals and his power can become 33,000 with two Force markers!

In addition, Deletors have many cards to support Waving Deletor, Greidhol. One of the best cards to play with him is Lie-down Deletor, Given. They are a great pair of units on the field. Lie-down Deletor, Given can stand Waving Deletor, Greidhol during combat. Then, you would have two attacks with your vanguard during this turn. These units add more pressure on your opponent.

The Premium Format

Waving Deletor, Greidhol is one of the best cards from Cardfight!! Vanguard V in the premium format. He can cause problems for your opponent. His contentious skill and a name for a heart perfectly fit in Link Joker decks. In addition, he has synergy with Deletor’s G-Units. He serves as a heart for powerful cards such as Original Deletor, Egorg.

Furthermore, his first skill counters Zeroth Dragon of Distant Sea, Megiddo. This a great defensive ability, and decreases the pressure from your opponent. He negates Megiddo’s ability to allow rear-guard to exchange positions.  The skill prevents your opponent from gaining extra battles during combat. You will save cards by avoiding those extra attacks.

The Final Word

Overall, Waving Deletor, Greidhol is a strong finisher in the standard format, and serves a good heart for Deletors in the premium format. I recommend playing him in Deletors for both formats. Waving Deletor, Greidhol is one of the best vanguards for Link Joker. The archetype has a lot of good cards to play with him. Furthermore, his skills complement the deck and creates a strong offense during the late game to win games.
