Unit of The Week: Faithful Sacred Staff, Morgause

Noble wishes shall bring forth unlimited power.

[G guardian]-Opponent Turn’s Guard Step-COST [Discard a card with [Heal] from your hand], and call this card to your (GC) from face down.
[AUTO]:When this unit is put on (GC), choose one of your grade 2 units, until end of turn, it gets [Shield]+10000, and “[AUTO]:When this unit intercepts, COST [Counter Blast (1) & Soul Blast (1)], choose one of your units, and it cannot be hit until end of that battle.”.

Many G-Guardians of the Royal Paladin share the common theme of reliance on rear-guards. Their abilities create strong shields with the assistance of your rear-guards. Faithful Sacred Staff, Morgause has this theme like many G-Guardians from the clan. Faithful Sacred Staff, Morgause requires your grade 2 rear-guard for a strong defense of the negation of the opponent’s attack.

Ability: Part 1

Faithful Sacred Staff, Morgause adds 10,000 shield to one of your grade 2 units. This increase shield has good value for your defense. Most grade 2 rear-guards have 5,000 shield and their shield becomes 15,000 for the turn with this ability.

Therefore, this ability strengthens your defense. You may be able to completely block an opponent’s attack without additional cards. Faithful Sacred Staff, Morgause may also reduce the amount of cards needed to block an attack.

Ability: Part 2

In addition, Faithful Sacred Staff, Morgause gives an ability to the grade 2 rear-guard. This rear-guard prevents your vanguard from being hit in battle. It is basically a perfect guard in a grade 2 with intercept.

This ability is very useful against opposing units with the ability to prevent you from calling a perfect guard from the deck to the guardian circle. Your grade 2 acts as the perfect guard. This tactic may save you in a close game.

Furthermore, this ability is very useful when you do not have a perfect guard in your hand. The grade 2 units fulfills this need at the moment during the game. You have a grade 2 rear-guard on the field with the ability of a sentinel.

Weakness:

Faithful Sacred Staff, Morgause is an inconsistent G-Guardian, due to her heavy reliance for grade 2 rear-guards. This G-Guardians has little value if you do not have any grade 2 rear-guards. An opponent may retire these units before the battle. An opponent may also avoid this ability if he or she has a vanguard with the ability to attack all of your units.

For instance, a player with Kagero may play Supreme Heavenly Emperor Dragon, Zanbust Dragon. This G-Unit has the ability to retire all of the opponent’s rear-guards. Supreme Heavenly Emperor Dragon, Zanbust Dragon may retire all of your Royal Paladins and Faithful Sacred Staff, Morgause would not be able to use her ability without you having a grade 2 rear-guard on the field.

Support:

Faithful Sacred Staff, Morgause is a generic card, and you may play her in many decks with Royal Paladin. You may play her in decks with Alfred, Blaster, and Jewel Knight. Her ability complements these archetypes.

Faithful Sacred Staff, Morgause is a great G-Guardian in a deck with Alfred and Blaster Blade. Monarch Sanctuary Alfred adds 5,000 shield to Blaster Blade. You will be able to create a large shield. Blaster Blade would have a shield of 20,000 to complement Faithful Sacred Staff, Morgause with her shield of 15,000.

Play these cards with Faithful Sacred Staff, Morgause!

Card rating:

Overall, Faithful Sacred Staff, Morgause is a decent G-Guardian for Royal Paladins. The ability giving the effect of perfect guards to grade 2 rear-guard is a nice effect. It is a useful ability when you do no have a sentinel in the hand or you need to negate an affect without sentinel. Therefore, I recommend playing one to two copies of Faithful Sacred Staff, Morgause in your G-Zone.
