Unit of The Week: Swift Deletor, Geali (V Series)

So fast that you wouldn’t realise that you are already annihilated.

[AUTO](RC):When placed, if you have more rear-guards than your opponent, this unit gets [Power]+4000 until end of turn.
[AUTO](VC/RC):When its attack hits a vanguard, COST [Soul Blast (1)], choose one of your opponent’s rear-guards, and bind it face down. If you could not bind a rear-guard, draw a card.

Swift Deletor, Geali (V Series) is a Link Joker and is a member of the clan’s archetype of Deletor. This unit is a legal card in the premium and v-premium formats. This grade 2 unit has two abilities. Both abilities complement the archetype’s style. This grade 2 unit generates his offense and binds the opponent’s rear-guard.

Sets:

  • V Trial Deck 07: Kouji Ibuki

First Ability:

Swift Deletor, Geali (V Series) gains 4,000 power when you place him on the field if you have more rear-guards than the opponent. This unit’s total power becomes 14,000 until the end of the turn. He can hit an opposing vanguard without a boost.

Therefore, Swift Deletor, Geali (V Series) can pressure the opponent in battle because your vanguard such as Docking Deletor, Greion (V Series) will delete the opposing vanguard. An attack with 14,000 power normally is not a lot of pressure. The opponent’s vanguard has zero power and an attack pressures the opponent to accept the attack or use multiple cards for defense.

Furthermore, this grade 2 unit requires proper timing. You may need to bind an opponent’s rear-guard for this ability’s condition. You must have more rear-guards for the opponent for the activation of this ability.

However, Swift Deletor, Geali (V Series) only gains the 4,000 power for a single turn. It becomes a rear-guard with only 10,000 power for additional turns on the field. It has a small amount of pressure on the opponent if you delete the opponent’s vanguard with your vanguard’s ability.

Second Ability:

Swift Deletor, Geali (V Series) binds one of the opponent’s rear-guard facedown in the bind zone if his attack hits an opponent’s vanguard. This ability is an active skill when this unit is a rear-guard or vanguard. It removes one of the opponent’s rear-guards from the game, and you may choose any of the opponent’s rear-guards.

Furthermore, the best strategy is choosing the opponent’s best rear-guard and bind it facedown. This choice is often a grade 2 unit in the front row. The opponent loses an offensive unit with the ability to intercept your attack. Therefore, the opponent loses offense and defense.

In addition, Swift Deletor, Geali (V Series) is an effective rear-guard against particular decks such as Blasters from Royal Paladin. Swift Deletor, Geali (V Series) may bind Blaster Blade. This strategy prevents Star Call Trumpeter (V Series) from returning Blaster Blade from the drop zone to the opponent’s hand.

Support:

Swift Deletor, Geali (V Series) provides support for Deletor. This grade 2 unit has synergy with many units in his archetype. This unit’s abilities complements Screening Deletor, Ydoga and Waving Deletor, Greidhol (V Series).

Looting Deletor, Gunec (V Series) enables you to consistently call Swift Deletor, Geali (V Series) for his second ability. Looting Deletor, Gunec (V Series) may return this grade 2 rear-guard to your hand. You may call this grade 2 unit during your next main phase. This strategy allows Swift Deletor, Geali (V Series) to activate his second ability to bind an opposing rear-guard.

Premium Format:

Swift Deletor, Geali (V Series) fits seamlessly with Deletors in the premium format. This grade 2 unit supports the archetype’s strategy of deleting the opponent’s vanguard and binding the opponent’s rear-guards. This grade 2 unit has value to the archetype due to his second ability to bind an opposing rear-guard.

Swift Deletor, Geali (V Series) is a good rear-guard in a deck with Original Deletor, Egorg. This grade 2 unit assists the win condition of Original Deletor, Egorg. This G-Unit instantly wins the game if your opponent has four or more damage and thirteen or more facedown cards in his or her bind zone. You want to call Swift Deletor, Geali (V Series) often to bind the opponent’s cards face down.

Furthermore, the second ability of Swift Deletor, Geali (V Series) pressures the opponent in the premium format. It puts the opponent in a difficult position because a successful attack will bind one of his or her rear-guards facedown in the bind zone. This situation adds one additional facedown card in the bind zone for Original Deletor, Egorg. You will be in position to win the game with this G-Units ability.

Card Rating:

Overall, Swift Deletor, Geali (V Series) is a respectable unit for Deletors. This grade 2 unit is a complementary piece to the archetype. He provides power and control over the field. His second ability has more value than his first ability. This unit with the ability to bind opposing rear-guards consistently pressures the opponent. Therefore, I recommend playing two to four copies of Swift Deletor, Geali (V Series) in your deck.
