Yu-Gi-Oh! Card Review: Dark Magician the Knight of Dragon Magic

[Dragon/Fusion/Effect]

ATK/2,900 DEF/2,400

“Dark Magician” + 1 Level 7 or higher Dragon or Warrior monster
If your monster attacks a Defense Position monster, inflict piercing battle damage to your opponent. Once per turn, when your monster destroys an opponent’s monster by battle: You can inflict damage to your opponent equal to the destroyed monster’s original ATK. If this card is destroyed: You can Special Summon both 1 “Dark Magician” and 1 “Gaia the Dragon Champion” from your hand, Deck, Extra Deck, and/or GY.

Dark Magician the Knight of Dragon Magic is one of Dark Magician’s many fusion monsters. This card is a dragon monster with 2,900 ATK and 2,400 DEF. This powerful fusion monster focuses on inflicting as much damage to the opponent as possible. Two of its three effects causes damage to the opponent’s life points.

Furthermore, the artwork of Dark Magician the Knight of Dragon Magic depicts a fusion of Dark Magician and Gaia the Dragon Champion. They are two of Yugi’s monsters in his deck. The combination of their powers form this fusion monster.

First Effect:

Dark Magician the Knight of Dragon Magic inflicts piercing damage to an opponent’s monster in defense position. This fusion monster will always deal damage to the opponent regardless of their monster’s position. This effect is a nice advantage because you may be aggressive in battle.

Therefore, this effect puts pressure on the opponent. An opponent cannot avoid damage with their monsters in defense position. Their weak monsters are vulnerable to destruction by battle from Dark Magician the Knight of Dragon Magic.

Second Effect:

Dark Magician the Knight of Dragon Magic also inflicts damage equal to the opponent’s monster’s ATK to the opponent when one of your monsters destroys the opponent’s monster in battle, and this effect activates once per turn. This effect is another method to inflict damage. It has the potential to inflict massive damage if the opponent’s monster has a high ATK.

Furthermore, this effect puts a lot of pressure on the opponent. Dark Magician the Knight of Dragon Magic has the potential to win the game. It depends on the opponent’s amount of life points. For example, an opponent with 2,00 ATK loses the dual if this effect inflicts 2,000 points of damage.

In addition, any of your monsters may trigger this effect. It does not require Dark Magician the Knight of Dragon Magic to destroy an opponent’s monster in battle. For example, Dark Magician Girl may destroy an opponent’s monster and the effect inflicts damage equal to the original ATK of the opponent’s monster.

Third Effect:

Dark Magician the Knight of Dragon Magic special summons Dark Magician and Gaia the Dragon Champion from the deck, hand, extra deck, or graveyard after this fusion monster is destroyed. You get two monsters on the field to instantly replace this fusion monster. You are gaining key resources.

Therefore, this effect potentially gives momentum to you and puts you in a good position despite losing a powerful fusion monster. Both of these monsters may protect your life points. You may use Dark Magician and Gaia the Dragon Champion as material for a summon. They have high ATK for good offense during the battle phase.

Furthermore, Dark Magician is the main monster of the deck. This effect returns him to the field after you have used him as fusion material. You have many options to use Dark Magician as material for a fusion summon, XYX summon, or link Summon.

In addition, you are in a great position for a XYZ summon of a rank seven monster. Dark Magician and Gaia the Dragon Champion are level seven monsters and they are on the field together. You may XYZ summon a powerful XYZ monster such as Ebon Illusion Magician or Red-Eyes Flare Metal Dragon.

Fusion Summon:

Dark Magician the Knight of Dragon Magic requires Dark Magician and one level second or higher dragon or warrior for fusion material. The archetype of the Dark Magician has support from dragons and warriors. You have many options for material. This fusion monster has multiple methods for its fusion summon.

The best method for this fusion summon is using The Eyes of Timaeus. The Eyes of Timaeus only uses Dark Magician as fusion material for the summon of  Dark Magician the Knight of Dragon Magic. It does not require the second material of a dragon or warrior. You save a card in your hand, and it is an easy strategy.

In addition, Timaeus the United Dragon also may perform the fusion summon of Dark Magician the Knight of Dragon Magic. Timaeus the United Dragon requires all of the fusion materials unlike The Eyes of Timaeus. You need both monsters in your hand or on the field. Timaeus the United Dragon may use itself as material due to it is a dragon.

Secrets of Dark Magic is another option for this fusion summon of Dark Magician the Knight of Dragon Magic. It is a quick-play spell card and you may activate it during the opponent’s turn. Secrets of Dark Magic requires Dark Magician and the proper monsters as fusion material. You may use either a dragon or warrior as the second material for the fusion summon.
