Trial Deck Review: Awakening of The Interdimensional Dragon

Awakening of The Interdimensional Dragon is Gear Chronicle’s first trial deck. I am a bit late on taking a look at the first trial deck from the G series. I reviewed Gear Chronicle’s second trial deck before its first trial deck. Awakening of The Interdimensional Dragon is based on Chrono’s deck in the first season. It includes four RRR cards and one of them is the legendary Chronojet Dragon! Spin the gears of time and fate to achieve your greatest victory!

The Worst G-unit in the G series Trail decks

Interdimensional Dragon, Mystery-flare Dragon is the deck’s prime G-unit. Unfortunately, it is also the G-unit in the game. Its ability looks very cool in the anime because you skip your opponent’s next turn. However, the skill requires you to reveal the deck’s top four cards and each card must be a different grade. You have a very low probability of activating the skill. The other two introductory trial decks include better G-units. Shrouded Divine Knight, Gablade and Flower Princess of Spring, Arborea can be consistently played in any deck. They do not rely so heavily on luck to deal major damage to your opponent. Stay far away from this card if you want a competitive Gear Chronicle deck.

Generation Break!

Chronojet Dragon is Gear Chronicle’s poster boy. His original artwork is featured in the trial deck. Chronojet Dragon’s Generation Break breaks through your opponent’s defenses and prevents opponents from playing perfect guards from their hands. Unfortunately, Chronojet Dragon is only available in two trial decks and Gear Chronicle’s best cards focus on Chronojet Dragon. You need him to make a solid deck. You need to buy trial decks or individual copies if you want to play a Chronojet Dragon deck.

Time Attack!

One of Gear Chronicle’s special abilities sends your opponent’s rear-guards to the bottom of the deck. Those cards cannot be used to perform Legion. This ability counters many decks such as Legion and clans with poor abilities to superior call units. Steam Fighter Amber is the top grade two in the trial deck and he sends one opposing rear-guard to the bottom of the deck. His ability is a Generation Break 1 skill. You can activate the skill as you as you perform your first Stride. Use his ability and Chronojet Dragon’s Stride skill to return up to two units to the bottom of your opponent’s deck!

The Final Word

Overall, Awakening of The Interdimensional Dragon is a good trial deck with a few bumps in the road. It is a nice introduction to Gear Chronicle. The trial deck showcases the clan’s signature ability. You must buy either this trial deck or Gear Chronicle’s second trial deck if you want to play Gear Chronicle. The clan heavily relies on Chronojet Dragon as your heart and vanguard. Interdimensional Dragon, Mystery-flare Dragon’s uselessness hurts the trial deck’s value. It does not consistently benefit any Gear Chronicle deck. I want Bushiroad to expand Gear Chronicle beyond Chronojet Dragon. The clan needs more diverse decks to give players additional options for playing Gear Chronicle. I still recommend buying Awakening of The Interdenominational Dragon to get two copies of Chronojet Dragon and a full set of triggers.

Trial Deck Rating: [usr 3]
