[Fairy/Effect]
ATK/1,800 DEF/2,000
Unaffected by your opponent’s Spell effects. Gains 500 ATK for each monster your opponent controls. When an opponent’s monster declares an attack: You can have this card lose exactly 1000 DEF, and if you do, your “Valkyrie” monsters cannot be destroyed by battle this turn.
Valkyrie Brunhilde is the boss card for Valkyries. She debuts in episode 191 in Zigfried von Schroeder’s duel against Joey Wheeler. Valkyrie Brunhilde is one of the strongest cards from the original anime. Her abilities are better in the TCG than in the anime. Her beauty and grace will conquer her enemies.
Valkyrie Brunhilde’s first effect protects her from your opponent’s Spell cards. She is unaffected by your opponent’s spells. In fact, your opponent cannot play a Spell card to control, destroy, or banish her. This effect makes her very difficult to remove from the field. Your opponent must work harder to destroy her by battle, a monster’s effect, or a Trap card.
In addition to her first skill for protection, Valkyrie Brunhilde’s second effect raises her ATK by 500 for each of your opponent’s monsters. Valkyrie Brunhilde becomes stronger with every monster on your opponent’s field. This skill is effective against swarm decks. If your opponent has five monsters, then her ATK rises to 4,300! Then, you gain the advantage!

Finally, Valkyrie Brunhilde’s third effect defends your Valkyrie monsters. If your opponent attacks your Valkyrie monster, then you can decrease Valkyrie Brunhilde’s DEF by 1,000 points, and your Valkyrie monsters cannot be destroyed by battle this turn. You can use this skill twice. However, your opponent will eventually break your defenses after Valkyrie expands all of her DEF points.
Overall, Valkyrie Brunhilde has a strong set of effects that make her an effective boss for Valkyrie decks. She protects herself from your opponent’s Spell cards, gains ATK for each of your opponent’s monsters, and she protects your Valkyrie monsters. These are three qualities that I look for in cards. I want to get a copy of Valkyrie Brunhilde to add to my collection. I am also considering building a Valkyrie deck just to play her.
