Generation Next is a quick-play spell card with inspiration from Yu-Gi-Oh! GX. This spell card supports Elemental HERO, Kuriboh, and Neo-Spacian. Jaden Yuki plays all three of these cards in Yu-Gi-Oh! GX. Generation has a single effect with two parts to help you get access to a monster.
Effect: Part One
Generation Next adds to your hand or special summons one Elemental HERO, Kuriboh, or Neo-Spacian from your deck or graveyard if your life points are lower than the opponent’s life points. This monster must have ATK equal to or less than the difference in the life points. You can get a free card without any cost.
Generation Next is a useful card for setting up your field. Elemental HERO and Neo-Spacian relay on fusion summons. This spell provides material for a fusion summon. You may need one additional monster and Generation Next provides it to you.
Therefore, Generation Next adds consistency to the decks of these archetypes. You will have the proper card in hand for a fusion summon. You may need an Elemental HERO or Neo-Spacian with a specific name or attribute for a fusion summon.

Effect: Part Two
The second part of the effect from Generation Next does not allow you to activate the effects of the monster added to your hand or special summoned with this effect during the turn when you activated Generation Next. This restriction slows down your strategy. You do not get benefits of momentum from your new monster’s effects.
Timing is the key for Generation Next. It is best to activate it during the opponent’s turn if you want to add an effect monster to your hand or special summon the effect monster. You would be able to activate the effect monster’s effects when your next turn begins.
Only a few Elemental Heroes have synergy with Generation Next. Elemental HERO Ocean is a useful monster to special summon at the end of the opponent’s turn. You may follow up on your first main phase with Elemental HERO Ocean’s effect and return a HERO from your graveyard to your hand.
Furthermore, normal monsters are the best options for Generation Next. You can set up your fusion summons. These monsters do not have any effects and you avoid this restriction. Elemental HERO Avian and Elemental HERO Neos are useful cards to special summon with Generation Next because they are fusion material for many fusion monsters in Elemental Hero.
Flaw in Design:
However, Generation Next has many flaws, and these problems limit this card’s potential. You cannot consistently play it. This spell card lacks synergy with many monsters.
Generation next requires you to be losing the duel by a large margin. You never want to be in this position. The options for this effect depend on the difference in life points. You may not be able to add a card such as Elemental HERO Ocean if the difference in life points is only 500 life points..
Unfortunately, second half of the effect’s restriction is a major mistake in this card’s design. You are not able to create strong combs because you are unable to activate your new monster’s effect. It limits your options with this card.
Generation Next is a miss opportunity for a great card. You are unable to use the effects of some of the best Elemental Heroes due to this limitation. You cannot activate the effects of Elemental HERO Blazeman and Elemental HERO Stratos if you special summon them with Generation Next. This spell card could have been an amazing card if you could activate the effects of those powerful monsters.

Generation Next is a card for Elemental HERO and Neo-Spacian. You can easily insert this spell in decks with these archetypes. You can consistently play this card.

Overall, Generation Next is a disappointment of a spell card for Elemental HERO. Konami dropped the ball on this card because it had potential. It lacks chemistry with many cards in all of the archetypes in its text due to its restriction on a monster’s effect. It also depends on you losing to special summon a monster, and you never want to be in that position. Therefore, I only recommend Generation Next in a casual deck.
