Yu-Gi-Oh! Card Review: Evolution End Burst

[Spell]

Add 1 “Overload Fusion” from your Deck to your hand. If you Fusion Summon a monster this turn with “Overload Fusion”, using 6 or more monsters as material, that monster can attack a number of times each Battle Phase this turn, up to the number of monsters used as its Fusion Materials. For the rest of this turn after this card resolves, you cannot Special Summon monsters, except with Spell effects. You can only activate 1 “Evolution End Burst” per turn.

Evolution End Burst is a spell card with three effects. This spell card provides support for machine monsters. It sets up fusion summons with Overload Fusion. It can also push the player to victory with its aggressive effect for a wave of attacks from a single fusion monster.

First Effect:

Evolution End Burst adds Overload Fusion from the deck to the player’s hand. This effect provides consistency for decks with dark machine fusion monsters. Overload Fusion fusion summons one dark machine fusion monster from the extra deck with materials on the player’s field or graveyard.

Furthermore, Evolution End Burst complements the strategy of Cyberdark. The strategy of Cyber Dragon is overwhelming the opponent with a single attack for victory. Overload Fusion has many powerful targets such as  Cyberdark End Dragon.

Therefore, Evolution End Burst is an effective spell card in the mid to late game. This spell card puts you in position to win the game with Cyberdark. Your field and graveyard will have a good number of monsters with Cyberdark in their names and other materials for Overload Fusion.

Second Effect:

The second effect increases the value of this spell card and complements Cyberdark. Evolution End Burst allows a fusion monster from Overload Fusion to attack up to the number of materials for the fusion summon if the player uses six or more monsters for material. The player’s fusion monster may attack six or more times in a turn.

Therefore, the best fusion monsters for this strategy are fusion monster with a high ATK. Multiple attacks with this amount of attack points can easily win the game if the opponent is unable to counter the strategy. The fusion monster may destroy all of the opponent’s monsters in battle and may have direct attacks after the fusion monster clears the opponent’s field of his or her monsters.

For example, Chimeratech Overdragon has 4,800 ATK when the player uses six monsters for its fusion materials. Six attacks with that amount of ATK is likely to defeat an opponent. Chimeratech Overdragon may inflict a lot of damage due to six months from the effect of Evolution End Burst.

Third Effect:

In addition, the player may only special summon monsters with effects from spells after Evolution of End Burst resolves its effect for the turn. This condition impacts the player’s ability to special summon additional monsters for the remainder of the turn. The player cannot use effects from traps and monsters for special summons for the turn.

Support:

Evolution End Burst supports decks with Overload Fusion. It is a useful addition to Cyberdark. This archetype consistently plays this spell card to its advantage.

However, there are not effective cards to search for Evolution End Burst from the deck. The player will need to naturally draw the card at the beginning of each turn or any additional draws from effects. It can be difficult to quickly access this card.

  • Overload Fusion

Card Rating:

Overall, Evolution End Burst is a decent card with decks with dark machine fusion monsters. It is a good method to add Overload Fusion from the deck to your hand and this second effect of this spell card has the potential to win the game. It has potential to become a better over time with new support from future sets. This spell card shines its best in a deck with Cyberdark. I recommend playing one or two copies of Evolution End Burst in a deck with Cyberdark.
