Yu-Gi-Oh! Card Review: Evil Eye Mesmerism

When your opponent Special Summons a monster(s): Activate this card by targeting 1 of those Summoned monsters in Attack Position, with less ATK than an “Evil Eye” monster you control; take control of that monster. When that monster leaves the field, destroy this card. While “Evil Eye of Selene” is in your Spell & Trap Zone, that targeted monster is also treated as an “Evil Eye” monster. You can only activate 1 “Evil Eye Mesmerism” per turn.

Evil Eye Mesmerism is Continuous Trap with two effects. its special effect influences an opponent’s monster and takes control of it! The artwork depicts the manipulative effect on a monster. Evil Eye is an archetype of many fiends. Evil Eye Mesmerism fits the archetype’s theme of wickedness.

First Effect:

Evil Eye Mesmerism takes control of the opponent’s monster when your opponent special summons the monster. You must have an Evil Eye monster with more ATK than your opponent’s monster. This is a fantastic Trap to counter an opponent’s strategy. You gain a monster without using many resources.

Furthermore, you need a monster with a high ATK to consistently activate this effect. Zerrziel, Ruler of the Evil Eyed is the best Evil Eye to play with Evil Eye Mesmerism. Zerrziel, Ruler of the Evil Eyed has 2,600 ATK, and this monster has more ATK than many monsters. You should be able to gain control of an opponent’s monster.

Second Effect:

in addition, Evil Eye Mesmerism treats your opponent’s former monster as an Evil Eye monster under your control. You need to control Evil Eye of Selene for this ability to activate. You can create powerful combos as the monster becomes a member of the Evil Eye! This effect maintains consistency in the deck’s strategy.

Furthermore, you may use this new monster in your position as material for a Link Summon. Gorgon, Empress of the Evil Eyed and Zerrziel, Ruler of the Evil Eyed require Evil Eye monsters to Link Summon them. You may use your new monster as material. The new monster is now an Evil Eye Monster. Use your opponent’s former resource as your resource to Link Summon a powerful card.
