Unit of The Week: Dimensional Robo, Gofire

Its turn to shine comes with the appearance of a troublesome enemy.

[AUTO](RC):When it attacks a vanguard, if your opponent’s hand has ten or more cards, this unit gets [Power]+20000/[Critical]+1 until end of that battle.

Dimensional Robo is the most popular archetype from Dimension Police. All great archetypes have a few scrubs in the group. Dimensional Robo, Gofire is one of the most underwhelming cards from Dimensional Robo. This grade 2 unit is a generic card with an ineffective and inconsistent ability. It is a disappointment because this card has nice artwork.

Ability:

Dimensional Robo, Gofire showcases his offensive capabilities when the opponent has many resources. Dimensional Robo, Gofire gains 20,000 power and an additional critical when an opponent has ten or more cards in their hand. This unit can deal a respectable amount of damage and has a total power of 29,000.

Furthermore, this ability may activate its effect against particular decks. Oracle Think Tank is a clan with units having abilities to create a large hand. You are likely to activate this effect against Oracle Think Tank.

Therefore, Dimensional Robo, Gofire has 29,000 power and two criticals when this ability is active. It may potentially force the opponent to use multiple cards to block the attack. It the pressure from the attack may potentially weaken the opponent’s hand.

However, this ability is a situational effect without a benefit. It depends on the opponent for its activation. You have no control of this ability’s activation. An opponent is very likely to block an attack from Dimensional Robo, Gofire because the opponent has a huge hand with many cards.

Furthermore, you do not want the opponent to have ten or more cards in his or her hand. You are likely losing the game in this situation. A wise player would avoid this situation in a game.

Below Average Power:

A noticeable trait from Dimensional Robo, Gofire is his power of 9,000. This card is from the V-Series of Cardfight!! Vanguard. The majority of grade 2 units from Dimension Police from the V-Series have 10,000 power. Dimensional Robo, Gofire has below average power for a unit from his clan.

Therefore, Dimensional Robo, Gofire is not a good option as your second vanguard. This unit as a vanguard is unable to hit the opposing vanguard without a boost. This unit requires a booster in the back row at all times with the exception of this unit’s ability when this unit is a rear-guard.

Support:

Dimensional Robo, Gofire is a generic card. You may play this unit in any deck with Dimension Police. It is also a member of the Dimensional Robos.

The best deck for Dimensional Robo, Gofire is Dimensional Robo. The archetype has many cards with abilities to increase the power of units. A strong boost can assist this unit in battle.

For example, Dimensional Robo, Gofire has synergy with Ultimate Dimensional Robo, Great Daiyusha (V Series). Ultimate Dimensional Robo, Great Daiyusha (V Series) adds 10,000 power to all of your units in the front row when you place this grade 3 unit to the field. This grade 3 vanguard provides good offense to this grade 2 rear-guard. Dimensional Robo, Gofire gains an additional 10,000 power from Ultimate Dimensional Robo, Great Daiyusha (V Series and his ability creates a total of 39,000 power with two criticals.

Premium Format:

Dimensional Robo, Gofire is a slightly more useful card in the Premium Format than V-Premium Format. You are more likely to activate this unit’s ability. It is common for a player to have at least ten cards in his or her hand at a point during a game. However, the consistency of this effect is a huge disadvantage for this unit because you will not consistently activate the ability of Dimensional Robo, Gofire against most opponents.

Dimensional Robo, Gofire has some synergy with Dimensional Robo Command Chief, Final Daimax. The scenario with the most amount of power for this grade 2 unit is the activation of its ability. Dimensional Robo, Gofire gains 20,000 power from its ability, a critical from its ability, 5,000 power from Dimensional Robo Command Chief, Final Daimax’s ability, and another critical from Dimensional Robo Command Chief, Final Daimax. The total power of Dimensional Robo, Gofire is 34000 power with three criticals in this scenario.

Card Rating:

Overall, Bushiroad poorly designed Dimensional Robo, Gofire with a bad ability, and it is an example of bad filler for a booster set. It is one of the few bad cards for Dimensional Robo. The archetype and the clan do not consistently benefit from this card. I do not recommend playing Dimensional Robo, Gofire in your deck. Casual decks and competitive decks have better options.
