Alone is fine. I will suffice.
[CONT](VC/RC):During your turn, this unit gets [Power]+5000 for each of your locked cards.
[AUTO](VC/RC):When it attacks, COST [Soul Blast (1)], and you may put a card from your hand on your (RC) as a locked card. If you put, draw a card. (Locked cards cannot do anything. They are unlocked and turned face up as [Stand] at the end of their owner’s turn.)
Claw of Occlusion, Ghastly Nail is an original card for Link Joker in the standard format. He provides additional support for Messiah and Link joker. He has the imaginary gift Force! I like this card’s artwork. He has the appearance of a unit with a lot of offense.
Claw of Occlusion, Ghastly Nail lives up to the flavor on the card. His first effect gives 5,000 power to him for each of your locked cards. He gains a lot of power by being alone on the field with lock units. His power rises to 23,000 power if you have two locked cards, and he gains a critical with a Force II marker. He is also the best option for the first attacker as a rear-guard on the field. You would have locked units during the first attacks. Then, you can replace Claw of Occlusion, Ghastly Nail with a new rear-guard for more offense.
Play these cards with Claw of Occlusion, Ghastly Nail!
- Blast Monk of the Thundering Foot
- Harmonics Messiah
- Lady Battler of the Gravity Well
Claw of Occlusion, Ghastly Nail’s second effect sets up his first effect, and has synergy with the Harmonics Messiah. The second effect locks a card from your hand to the field, and you draw a card. You are basically getting a card from this skill. I recommend locking a card that you will use as a booster or attacker. Then, Harmonics Messiah unlocks this card during its attack at your opponent.
Premium Format
Claw of Occlusion, Ghastly Nail’s effects are useful abilities for the deck in the premium format. You are locking cards to gain power and trigger effects. However, the deck in the premium format does not have any room for this card. Alter Ego Messiah and Harmonics Messiah are better options to be the vanguard than Claw of Occlusion, Ghastly Nail.
Overall, Claw of Occlusion, Ghastly Nail is a good backup vanguard for Messiah, and it is also a good rear-guard for the deck’s offense. Play four copies of this card in your deck for the standard format. Both effects are very effective abilities for Link Joker. You are rewarded for locking your rear-guards. Claw of Occlusion, Ghastly Nail gains power to strengthen your formation, and you draw a card from the deck.
