Unit of The Week: Arc Saver Dragon

[AUTO](VC):[Counter Blast (3) & Soul Blast (3)] At the beginning of your main phase, you may pay the cost. If you do, search your deck, soul, drop zone, or damage zone for up to one card each, choose three cards from among them, call them to separate (RC), and shuffle your deck.
[CONT]:You may not call this card to (RC). (You may not superior call this card)

Powerful dragons have united the Royal Paladins. They are the United Sanctuary’s legendary protectors. These dragons are known as the Savers. Soul Saver Dragon and Thing Saver Dragon are the first Saver dragons in the trading card game. The next Saver dragon is a grade above his early predecessors. Archsaver Dragon is the most powerful dragon in the kingdom. His artwork includes Thing Saver Dragon and Soul Saver Dragon.

Archsaver Dragon has an unique skill.  You may search up to three cards from your deck, soul, drop zone, or damage zone, and superior call them to the field. You should always search for a card in your drop zone to recover damage. This is a huge advantage! The next two areas to superior call cards from are your deck and drop zone. Never superior call an unit from the soul. You will need cards in your soul if you are able to use this skill more than once in a game.

Archsaver Dragon lacks support to help pay for his skill’s cost. There are not many Royal Paladins with the ability to counter charge. Knight of Fragment is an unit with Generation Break skill. He can soul charge one card and counter charge one card. Blaster-friend, Barcgal is also useful for counter charging if you are playing Blaster Blade in your deck. A few cards can help fuel your soul. The Royal Paladins already have Margal. Margal is the clan’s best Draw Trigger because his skill sends him to the soul. Silent Sage, Sharon shares the same skill with Margal. She can also be used as fuel for the soul.

Finally, Archsaver Dragon is currently the only card that may not be called as a rear-guard. It may also not be superior called to the field. There is currently no method to call Archsaver Dragon as a rear-guard. I highly doubt if Bushiroad will make a new mechanic to superior call Archsaver Dragon. This limitation is not a problem because you may discard extra copies to Stride your G-Unit.

Overall, Archsaver Dragon is only a fun card to play. His ability to heal damage is the reason that I want to play him. The ability to superior call many units is also a nice skill with many potential combos. His skill would be great if you could consistently use his skill every turn. I do not expect Archsaver Dragon to make an impact for now. He currently lacks support to be competitive at tournaments. The card can become an elite unit with proper support.

Card Rating: 3 out of 5
