First Effect:
The name of Dark Magician, the Pharaoh’s Servant becomes Dark Magician when it is on the field or in the graveyard. This effect gives access to many cards from the Dark Magician’s support to Dark Magician, the Pharaoh’s Servant. You can play this card as if it is the original Dark Magician.
Therefore, this effect of Dark Magician, the Pharaoh’s Servant adds consistency to this deck. You can build a deck of cards with effects for Dark Magician on the field or in the graveyard. You can create a variety of powerful combos.
For instance, Dark Magician, the Pharaoh’s Servant in the graveyard is a benefit for cards such as Dark Magician Girl and Soul Servant. Dark Magician Girl gains 300 attack points for each Dark Magician and Magician of Black Chaos in the graveyards, and Dark Magician, the Pharaoh’s Servant counts towards this total. Soul Servant can place Dark Magician, the Pharaoh’s Servant from your deck, hand, or graveyard on top of the deck. In addition, Dark Magician, the Pharaoh’s Servant counts as a Dark Magician for Soul Servant’s effect to draw as many cards equal to the number of “Palladium” monsters, “Dark Magician”, and “Dark Magician Girl” cards with different names on the field and in both graveyards.
However, Dark Magician, the Pharaoh’s Servant does not have access to all of the Dark Magician’s support. Some cards require Dark Magician from the deck. This effect monster’s name only becomes Dark Magician on the field and in the graveyard. Cards such as Apprentice Illusion Magician and Magician’s Robe do not work with Dark Magician, the Pharaoh’s Servant because these cards require Dark Magician from the deck.
Second Effect & Third Effect: Restriction
You may only use either the second effect or third effect once per turn. Therefore, both effects cannot be used during the same turn. You must choose the best effect at the current moment in the duel.
Second Effect:
Dark Magician, the Pharaoh’s Servant special summons itself from the hand. Dark Magician, the Pharaoh’s Servant can special summon itself from the hand by revealing a spell card and you may set one spell or trap with Dark Magician in its text from the deck. The deck with the Dark Magician can consistently meet this requirement of a spell card. The deck plays many spells such as Dark Magical Circle and Secrets of Dark Magic.
Furthermore, this effect of Dark Magician, the Pharaoh’s Servant has a lot of value. You do not need to pay any tributes unlike the original Dark Magician. The original Dark Magician requires two tributes for a normal summon or assistance from support to special summon him.
In addition, the spell or trap from the deck is a key advantage from this effect. Dark Magician has many effective spells and traps. You can set up combos with Dark Magician, the Pharaoh’s Servant. This effect monster can search the deck and set cards such as Eternal Soul and Secrets of Dark Magic.
However, this effect’s flaw is the reveal of a spell card. The opponent gains knowledge about one card from your hand. He or she can plan to counter it.

Dark Magician the Dragon Knight is a fusion monster, and it requires one Dark Magician and one dragon. Dark Magician, the Pharaoh’s Servant can be fusion material for this fusion monster if this effect monster is on the field. You will need a dragon such as Timaeus the United Dragon for the second fusion material, and its effect allows you to use cards from your hand or field as fusion materials for a fusion summon. As a result, the effect of Timaeus the United Dragon may use Dark Magician, the Pharaoh’s Servant and Timaeus the United Dragon as fusion materials and fusion summon Dark Magician the Dragon Knight!

Support:
Dark Magician, the Pharaoh’s Servant has synergy with many cards for Dark Magician. The synergy is a natural connection because his first effect changes his name to Dark Magician. You can create many powerful strategies with this spellcaster. Dark Magician, the Pharaoh’s Servant is fusion material for the archetype. This spellcaster can control the field with his third effect and the support from the archetype of Dark Magician.
Eternal Soul is one of the most effective traps for Dark Magician because it can set up the field for the deck. Dark Magician, the Pharaoh’s Servant shares a similar problem to the original Dark Magician with its lack of an effect for protection. Eternal Soul solves this problem and all of your Dark Magicians in the monster zone are unaffected by the opponent’s card effects. This protection helps keep this effect monster on the field. However, the downside is the weakness of Eternal Soul. If Eternal Soul is destroyed, then all of your monsters are destroyed. Opponents are likely going to try to destroy Eternal Soul to also indirectly destroy your monsters.

The Eye of Timaeus is one of the most recognizable spells for Dark Magician. This spell uses a Dark Magician as the only fusion material and fusion summons a monster with Dark Magician mentioned as one of its materials. The Eye of Timaeus can use Dark Magician, the Pharaoh’s Servant as the only material for a fusion summon of a monster such as Dark Magician the Dragon Knight. However, this spell is a slow card because most of Dark Magician’s support cannot search it because its text states Dark Magician monster instead of Dark Magician.
In addition, Timaeus the United Dragon enables fusion summons. This dragon requires one of the fusion materials to be a spellcaster. This dragon can also include itself as one of the fusion materials. Timaeus the United Dragon can use Dark Magician, the Pharaoh’s Servant as fusion material for a fusion summon.
Furthermore, The Gaze of Timaeus is an effective spell card for fusion summons. This quick-play spell card returns a Dark Magician from the field or graveyard to the deck, and fusion summons one fusion monster with Dark Magician in its text. Dark Magician, the Pharaoh’s Servant meets these requirements on the field and in the graveyard. This quick-play spell recovers this effect monster and provides a fusion monster. Therefore, The Gaze of Timaeus may return Dark Magician, the Pharaoh’s Servant from the field or graveyard to the deck and fusion summon a monster such as Dark Magician the Dragon Knight. As a result, Dark Magical Curtain can special summon Dark Magician, the Pharaoh’s Servant from the deck, and is an effective option when you do not have this card in your hand. However, you will not be able to add a spell or trap with Dark Magician in its text from the effect of Dark Magical Curtain because the effect requires a monster with the original name of Dark Magician. However, Dark Magical Curtain does not allow you to activate the effects of Dark Magician, the Pharaoh’s Servant during this turn.

In addition, Magician Navigation is an effective trap for Dark Magician. This trap special summons Dark Magician from your hand and one level seven or lower dark spellcaster from the deck. Matchups: Weaknesses
Opponents have options to counter Dark Magician, the Pharaoh’s Servant. This spellcaster does not have any inherent protection. Its main protection is Eternal Soul. However, this spellcaster is still a vulnerable card with this trap on the field.
Dominus Impulse counters the second effect of Dark Magician, the Pharaoh’s Servant. Dominus Impulse is a trap and it can be activated from the hand if the opponent controls a card. The effect of Dominus Impulse negates the effect to special summon a monster, and it destroys the card if its player has a trap in his or her graveyard. Therefore, Dominus Impulse can negate this spellcaster’s second effect and destroy Dark Magician, the Pharaoh’s Servant.
Card Rating:
Overall, Dark Magician, the Pharaoh’s Servant is one of the strongest versions of Dark Magician. Players can play a deck with this version of the card and not play the original Dark Magician. This effect monster has synergy with many cards from the archetype. This effect monster becomes fusion material when he is on the field. Many spells and traps activate their abilities with this card’s name as Dark Magician on the field or in the graveyard. Therefore, I recommend playing two to three copies of Dark Magician, the Pharaoh’s Servant in your deck.
