Game Console Review: Nintendo Game & Watch: The Legend of Zelda

Nintendo Game & Watch: The Legend of Zelda is the second handheld console in Nintendo’s new line of Game & Watch consoles. This version features The Legend of Zelda for the franchise’s 35th anniversary. It has six games with Link, and three of the games are the franchise’s early titles.

I am reviewing all of the features of Nintendo Game & Watch: The Legend of Zelda. It is a fantastic handheld console for the franchise’s 35th anniversary. It is a great item for players who enjoy retro games, and they can enjoy these classic games on a handheld system. Collectors will want to add this console to their collections, and it will be a valuable console.

Nintendo Game & Watch: The Legend of Zelda has a stellar design for a handheld console. It perfectly fits in the palms of my hands. I have a good grip on it, and it is comfortable to play games on it.

In addition, the size of its screen is 6.3 x 3.54 inches. I can clearly see the action in every game. The screen is a good size for a handheld console.

Nintendo Game & Watch: The Legend of Zelda includes a great collection of six games. It features the main titles of The Legend of Zelda, The Legend of Zelda: The Adventure of Link, and The Legend of Zelda: A Link’s Awakening. These are fantastic games for every collector.

In addition, Nintendo Game & Watch: The Legend of Zelda features the Japanese versions of The Legend of Zelda, The Legend of Zelda: The Adventure of Link, and The Legend of Zelda: A Link’s Awakening. You can enjoy these versions with slight changes. It is a nice addition to the handheld console.

• The Legend of Zelda:

The franchise began with this legendary game. The Legend of Zelda is a classic from the NES. It is a difficult game with a large world, dungeons, and powerful bosses. You discover new weapons on your adventure.

However, The Legend of Zelda becomes very difficult due to its hidden puzzles and bad clues. Not all of the dungeons are clearly visible in the world. Some of the puzzles are very tricky.

• The Legend of Zelda: The Adventure of Link

The black sheep in the franchise is The Legend of Zelda: The Adventure of Link. It is the least enjoyable game on the Game & Watch. The game is very difficult due to its design. It also includes new additions to the series. Nintendo added towns and inns to the series.

Furthermore, Link’s sword has a small range and it puts him at a major disadvantage in combat. Many enemies are very difficult to defeat. The final boss is Dark Link, a clone of link with the same abilities.

• The Legend of Zelda: A Link’s Awakening

The best game is The Legend of Zelda: A Link’s Awakening. Nintendo had a strong concept for the series when they released this title on the Game Boy. It better puzzles and clues than the two games on the NES. The Legend of Zelda: A Link’s Awakening also includes more storytelling from cut scenes than the games on the NES.

• Vermin (Link Version)

Vermin on this Game & Watch features Link for the main character. It is a fun game to pass the time. It also offers a fun challenge. You attempt to stop monsters from reaching the shore. The game increases the difficulty as you progress through the challenge.

• Playable clock and timer.

The fifth and sixth games on the Game & Watch are two version of the Playable clock and timer. They are challenges with enemies from The Legend of Zelda and The Legend of Zelda II: The Adventure of Link. Your goal is defeating every enemy on the screen within three minutes.

In addition, the goals become more challenging after you complete each one. You will battle more powerful enemies. It is a fun game to test your skills.

Graphics: 8 out of 10

Nintendo Game & Watch: The Legend of Zelda features all of the games with their original graphics. It provides the experience of retro games. The Legend of Zelda has good graphics for its time.  It is not the most beautiful game in 2021.

The Legend of Zelda: A Link’s Awakening has aged very well. The game’s graphics look good in modern times. The game looks fantastic on the small handheld. Every character has uniqueness and life in their designs.

Audio: 10 out of 10

This small handheld console packs an amazing speaker with a lot of power. It has a loud and crisp speaker. I can easily hear all of the music and sound effects. The quality of the speaker is an impressive feature for Game & Watch: The Legend of Zelda.

In addition, you can adjust the audio to your preference. The speaker can become very loud at its highest settings. I recommend adjusting the audio to the perfect level for you.

Controls: 8 out of 10

The Game & Watch has basic controls with a control pad and buttons for A, B, Start, and Select. It includes three additional buttons for selecting games. The control pad provides smoothly and responsive controls. The timing of the actions for attacks and walking is the same as the original versions on the NES and Game Boy.

However, the control pad is slightly too low on the handheld. It would be more comfortable if it was placed higher on the console. A higher position would make it easier to control Link in all of the games.

Final Rating:

All in all, I strongly recommend Nintendo Game & Watch: The Legend of Zelda to fans of the franchise. This handheld was made for the fans and retro gamers. It is an awesome addition to your collection. Nintendo Game & Watch: The Legend of Zelda has a fantastic collection of games.
