Yu-Gi-Oh! Card Review: Shadow of the Six Samurai – Shien

[Warrior/XYZ/Effect]

ATK/2,500 DEF/400

2 Level 4 “Six Samurai” monsters
Once per turn (Quick Effect): You can detach 1 material from this card, then target 1 “Six Samurai” monster you control with less than 2000 ATK; its original ATK becomes 2000 until the end of this turn.

Shadow of the Six Samurai – Shien is the first Six Samurai to be an XYZ monster. You only need 2 level 4 Six Samurais to special summon him. He wields a mighty blade for his 2,500 ATK. Shadow of the Six Samurai – Shien also changes the original ATK of your weaker Six Samurais.

Effect:

Shadow of the Six Samurai – Shien changes the ATK of a Six Samurai with less than 2,000 ATK, and the Six Samurai’s ATK becomes 2,000 for the turn. The effect adds offense to your side of the field. You can inflict more damage than usual due to this effect.

Furthermore, Shadow of the Six Samurai – Shien and The Six Samurai – Yariza are an amazing duo. Their effects complement each other. The Six Samurai – Yariza is the best monster to increase his ATK. The Six Samurai – Yariza can directly attack an opponent if you have another Six Samurai with a different name on the field. You can inflict 2,000 damage to an opponent’s life points!

Flaw:

However, Shadow of the Six Samurai – Shien’s effect does not provide a lot of value to the deck. Six Samurai wants to swarm the field with monsters and overwhelm the opponent. This effect provides very little value for this strategy. Shadow of the Six Samurai – Shien does not have any additional effects to special summon monsters. He loses value after you have used his effect twice.

XYZ Summon: Shadow of the Six Samurai – Shien

Shadow of the Six Samurai – Shien requires 2 level 4 Six Samurai monsters to XYZ summon him from the Extra Deck. These requirements are very easy to fulfill. The specialty of Six Samurai is swarming the field.

Legendary Six Samurai – Kizan helps set up the XYZ summon, and you can quickly summon Shadow of the Six Samurai – Shien. Legendary Six Samurai – Kizan special summons himself to the field if you control another Six Samurai with a different name. The other Six Samurai needs to also be level 4.

Card Rating:

Overall, Shadow of the Six Samurai – Shien does not provide a lot of value for Six Samurai. The Six Samurai want to swarm the field with monsters. The effect of this card only provides additional ATK, and it does not offer any other value. The best card to play alongside Shadow of the Six Samurai – Shien is The Six Samurai – Yariza. I only recommend Shadow of the Six Samurai – Shien in a casual deck.
