Yu-Gi-Oh! Card Review: Promethean Princess, Bestower of Flames

[Friend/Link/Effect]

ATK/2,700 Link – 3

2+ Effect Monsters
You cannot Special Summon monsters, except FIRE monsters. You can only use each of the following effects of “Promethean Princess, Bestower of Flames” once per turn. During your Main Phase: You can Special Summon 1 FIRE monster from your GY. If a monster(s) is Special Summoned to your opponent’s field, while this card is in your GY (except during the Damage Step): You can target 1 FIRE monster you control and 1 monster your opponent controls; destroy them, and if you do, Special Summon this card.

A card with the perfect embodiment of fire is Promethean Princess, Bestower of Flames. This link monster is a fiend with the attribute of fire. She has respectable stats of 2,700 ATK. All three of her effects support monsters with the attribute of fire. Her effects make her to be a strong card in decks with fire monsters.

First Effect:

Promethean Princess, Bestower of Flames only allows you to special summon fire monsters when she is on the field. This restriction is not an issue in decks with only fire monsters. The restriction would not affect your strategy.

However, this effect limits Promethean Princess, Bestower of Flames in decks with only fire monsters. You are unable to special summon monsters with other attributes. This restriction affects all types of special summons.

Second Effect:

Promethean Princess, Bestower of Flames special summons one fire monster from your graveyard. This effect is a form of Monster Reborn only for your graveyard. The effect does not have any restrictions. You may special summon one of your best fire monsters from the graveyard during every turn.

Therefore, Promethean Princess, Bestower of Flames adds consistency to decks and sets you for success. She consistently provides one fire monster on every turn without a cost. You may regain a material from her link summon or special summon a powerful monster for your deck’s strategy.

Third Effect:

Promethean Princess, Bestower of Flames special summons herself from the graveyard when the opponent special summons a monster. The effect also destroys the opponent’s monster and one of your fire monsters. This effect provides a method to play this card from the graveyard.

The ability for a monster to special summon itself is a great advantage. You have an additional option to play this card. This card has the opportunity to return to the field if the opponent destroys it.

In addition, you only need a fire monster on the field for the cost. The second half of the cost of the opponent’s monster. You are using the opponent’s resources for the cost of this effect. It provides a powerful Link Monster.

Furthermore, this effect perfectly counters an opponent’s special summon. Promethean Princess, Bestower of Flames instantly destroys the opponent’s new monster. The opponent loses his or her advantage.

Link Summon:

Promethean Princess, Bestower of Flames requires two or more effect monsters and a total number of three monsters for her Link Summon. She requires many resources from the field. The cost of three materials is worth the price of this powerful card.

Furthermore, fire monsters are the best cards for her materials. You may special summon one of the materials if it was a fire monster with her first effect. This strategy reduces the cost of the Link Summon because you are regaining one of the materials.

Support:

Promethean Princess, Bestower of Flames is a generic card for fire monsters. She is a great fit in decks with primary fire monsters. You can consistently play this link monster to her fullest potential in these decks. She is a great fit with archetypes such as Salamangreat.

Promethean Princess, Bestower of Flames and Salamangreat Raging Phoenix have unique synergy. Promethean Princess, Bestower of Flames may special summon herself by destroying one of your fire monsters and one of the opponent’s monsters. This effect will trigger Salamangreat Raging Phoenix’s effect from the graveyard, and Salamangreat Raging Phoenix special summons himself when one of your fire monsters is destroyed. These effects interact with each other. You gain two powerful link monsters.

Promethean Princess, Bestower of Flames also has synergy with Salamangreat Wolvie. This duo of monsters provide resources. Promethean Princess, Bestower of Flames may special summon Salamangreat Wolvie from the graveyard. This effect triggers the effect of this effect monster. Salamangreat Wolvie adds a fire monster from the graveyard to your hand when you special summon it. You gain two cards from this combo.
