This legendary dragon is a powerful engine of destruction. Virtually invincible, very few have faced this awesome creature and lived to tell the tale.
The Blue-Eyes White Dragon is one of the most iconic cards in Yu-Gi-Oh!. This almighty dragon is the centerpiece in Seto Kaiba’s deck. It was once feared for its powerful 3000 ATK. The majority of monsters were not strong enough on their own to destroy a Blue-Eyes White Dragon during the early days of Yu-Gi-Oh!.
Konami made plenty of support for the Blue-Eyes White Dragon upon its release. A lot of the early cards were dragon support. Dragon decks were given the most basic needs during the early days. They had a field card, field protection, and easy special summoning combos before every other type of monster. In addition, Lord of D. and Flute of Summoning Dragon were one of the first powerful combos. Lord of D. protects all dragons on the field and his Flute of Summoning Dragon special summons two dragons from the hand to the field. Normal monsters like the Blue-Eyes White Dragon need the additional support because they don’t have special effects to assist them.

In addition, Konami created some support for the Blue-Eyes archetype. The Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon was the first support card. It is still one of the strongest monsters in the game with 4,500 ATK. Also, the Blue-Eyes Shining Dragon is another powerful card. However, these monsters are not very practical in today’s decks. They are very difficult to summon to the field and can easily be destroyed.
Furthermore, the Blue-Eyes White Dragon returned in 2013 with a force in Saga of Blue-Eyes White Dragon Structure Deck. The Blue-Eyes White Dragon became a more playable card than it was for the past few years. To illustrate, Maiden with Eyes of Blue has boosted Blue-Eyes White Dragon decks. She can quickly special summon a Blue-Eyes White Dragon from the deck during either players’ turn. Azure-Eyes Silver Dragon is also another good card for Blue-Eyes White Dragon decks. It can provide temporary protection and most importantly Azure-Eyes Silver Dragon can special summon a Blue-Eyes White Dragon from the graveyard once per turn.
In closing, Blue-Eyes White Dragon will always be one of the most popular cards in Yu-Gi-Oh!. Blue-Eyes White Dragon came out of the gates very strong. It regained some of its relevance in 2013. Blue-Eyes White Dragon decks can be very powerful with its most recent support. I’m sure even more powerful cards to support the Blue-Eyes White Dragon will continue to be released!
