WWE Screwed Alexa Bliss at Summer Slam 2018

The goddess of professional wrestling, Alexa Bliss defended her Raw Women’s Championship at Summer Slam against Ronda Rousey, and loss in one of the worst matches in WWE history. Ronda Rousey destroyed Alexa Bliss without any effort, and won the Raw Women’s Championship. I was not expecting a squash match. I expected Alexa to win by cheating or Ronda overcoming Alexa’s dirty tactics to win the title. You cannot squash a five-time champion and face of the women’s division.

The way Alexa Bliss loss devalues the entire women’s roster. It screams the women in the WWE are not good enough to be in the ring with Ronda Rousey. Ronda Rousey turned her back to Alexa Bliss without any consequences for her arrogance. Then, Alexa tapped out in less than a second after being put in an armbar. WWE made Alexa look like a helpless little girl and Ronda looked like a grown woman.

The WWE wanted Ronda Rousey to look great in Alexa Bliss’s expense. However, Ronda did not look great. I am never impressed with a squash match because they hold little weight most of the time. A great champion needs a strong opponent, and Alexa was not properly booked as a threat. Ronda treated her opponent as a joke, and did not take the match seriously.

I would have booked this match to be one of the best matches in WWE women’s history. This match should have featured a strong women’s champion colliding with a former UFC women’s champion. Two of the best women from their respected sports wrestle for the championship. Alexa Bliss has the experience of a professional wrestler and Ronda Rousey is in a new world with little experience. Both women should have went back and forth in a tough match.

WWE Creative forgot professional wrestling presents an illusion of reality. Professional wrestling is suppose to appear to be real and to lure viewers inn believing these are competitive matches. Alexa’s character has been booked as a talented and dangerous heel. She is a five time women’s champion and won the Money in the Bank (2018). Alexa Bliss competed in a steel cage match on Smackdown on January 17th, 2016, and won the first ever female elimination chamber match. A wrestler with many accomplishments should never be squashed.

A day before the match, the WWE announced Alexa Bliss and Trish Stratus will have a main event match at WWE Evolution. The announcement appeared to be pushing Alexa Bliss as a future legend in women’s wrestling. Alexa Bliss has been the face of the women’s division for two years, and is given a match against Trish Stratus, who many consider to be the best female wrestler in history. Losing her match against Ronda Rousey in a horrible manner hurts the hype behind this match. No one with any sense would consider Alexa a threat to any diva after she looked like a child in the ring.

The poor booking of this match showed the WWE has lost its way. A five-time champion should be booked as a legitimate opponent. Alexa Bliss deserved better from the WWE. The fans deserved a better match that they paid for on Pay-per-view. I wanted a good match for both ladies to look strong regardless of which woman won the match. History will say this is one of the worst decisions the WWE made in this generation.
