Unit of The Week: Arc Saver Dragon (V Series)

The holy guardian dragon deity rises up when crisis besets Cray.

[CONT](VC/Hand):If you have a total of three or more cards with “Blaster” in their different card names on your (VC) and drop zone, this card gets grade -1.
[AUTO](VC):When placed, COST [Counter Blast (3) & Soul Blast (3)], search for up to one card with “Blaster” in its card name each from your deck, drop zone, soul, and damage zone, to a total of three or less cards, call them to (RC), and shuffle your deck.

Blasters have a lot of support, and one of their supportive cards is Arc Saver Dragon (V Series). Bushiroad redesigned this unit for the V-Premium Format. This card is a grade 4 unit with two abilities and the Imaginary Gift: Force. This card has the ability to superior call three blasters to the field.

V-Premium Format:

Arc Saver Dragon (V Series) is a Royal Paladin and a grade 4 unit. This unit’s abilities only support Blaster. You need to play this card in deck for Blasters if you want to play this card.

However, Arc Saver Dragon (V Series) does not have Blaster in its name, despite being support for the archetype. This unit does not count as a Blaster on the field. You may not get the full benefits of some Blasters due to this unit’s name.

First Ability:

Arc Saver Dragon (V Series) becomes a grade 3 unit in your hand and on the vanguard circle when you have three cards with Blaster on the vanguard circle and in the drop zone. This ability enables you to ride this card when you would normally ride a grade 3 unit. It does not require an additional turn to ride on another unit.

Furthermore, Arc Saver Dragon (V Series) prevents you from being grade locked. A deck can run four copies of this card and consistently ride this unit without any issues. It is a grade 4, but this ability removes the issue of the deck’s ratio for grades.

In addition, only a deck with many Blasters can consistently benefit from the first ability of Arc Saver Dragon (V Series). There are many cards in the archetype for the V-Premium Format. This unit can often becomes your first grade 3 for your vanguard during a game.

Second Ability:

Arc Saver Dragon (V Series) superior calls one Blaster from the damage zone, deck, drop zone, and soul for a total of three cards. You gain a lot of resources from this ability. You may superior call cards such as Blaster Blade (V Series) and Blaster Rapier (Royal Paladin) to your field.

Furthermore, this ability basically heals one point of damage when you superior call a Blaster from the damage zone. I highly recommend superior calling a Blaster from the damage zone because this ability has a heavy cost. You will also recover damage.

However, this ability has a very heavy cost. It requires three counter blasts and three soul blasts. This tactic is poor management of your resources to superior call three Blasters. You need these resources for the cost of your other abilities. It may not be worth the cost.

Support:

Arc Saver Dragon (V Series) has a good amount of support in the V-Premium Format. This format has a long list of units with Blaster in their names. You may consistently activate this unit’s abilities in a deck with mostly Blasters in it.

Blaster Arrow adds Arc Saver Dragon (V Series) from the deck to your hand. Blaster Arrow is a useful card for searching for this grade 4 unit. You may ride it on your next turn if you have three or more blasters on the vanguard’s circle and in the drop zone.

Premium Format:

Arc Saver Dragon (V Series) is an upgrade from the original Arc Saver Dragon in the Premium Format. The latest version of this card has better abilities and the Imaginary Gift: Force. The Imaginary Gift: Force offers a lot of value on offense. The original card does not provide those advantages.

Arc Saver Dragon (V Series) requires generic G-Units from the Premium Format. Royal Paladin has generic G-Units with strong abilities. For instance, Divine Knight of Twin Absolutes, Saint of Twin Sword is a great card to play with this grade four as your heart. Divine Knight of Twin Absolutes, Saint of Twin Sword superior calls two grade two units from the deck, and you may superior call Blaster Blade (V Series) with this ability.

However, Arc Saver Dragon (V Series) is a mediocre card in the Premium Format. Blasters have many better options for the vanguard such as Majesty Lord Blaster (V Series) with his strong body of 18,000 power at all times. You gain more offensive power with those units than Arc Saver Dragon (V Series).

Due to this card does not have Blaster in its name, you are unable to play cards such as Divine Knight King, Alfred Holy Saver with this grade 4 unit. His name does not meet the requirement for those cards. This limitation devalues this card. You cannot play the best G-Units for Blasters with this card as the heart.

Card Rating:

Overall, Arc Saver Dragon (V Series) is a mediocre card for Blasters. This unit does not have provide much value after your first turn with this unit as your. The exclusion of Blaster in its name hurts the value of this card in both formats. I would only recommend playing Arc Saver Dragon (V Series) in a casual deck for fun games with your friends.
