Maelstrom is Aqua Force’s first archetype. The clan was introduced in season two of Cardfight!! Vanguard. The archetype has slowly grown into its full deck. Maelstrom first expended into two crossrides and one is also for the Reverse archetype. Then, the clan jumped into the G era with a fleet of G-units. Blue Storm Breaking Dragon, Engulf Maelstrom is the newest incarnation of Maelstrom as a G-unit!
The first skill requires Wave 4 only. You must perform exactly three attacks before attacking a vanguard with Blue Storm Breaking Dragon, Engulf Maelstrom. The skill states your opponent cannot call cards from hand or G-Zone to Guardian Circle with a grade less than the number of cards with Maelstrom in their names in your soul. Opponents will struggle to block this attack. The attack can be unstoppable if you are able to put five cards with Maelstrom in their names in your soul.
Blue Storm Supreme Dragon, Lordly Maelstrom needs to be vanguard and heart to ensure you will put cards with Maelstrom in their names in your soul. This card sends Maelstrom cards from the drop zone and places them into your soul. It is best to discard your grade three Maelstroms to pay the cost to Stride. They will be available in your drop to send to the soul. You will have at least two Maelstroms in your soul during your third stride.
Furthermore, Wave 4 can easily be achieved. Blue Storm Supreme Dragon, Lordly Maelstrom gives Blue Storm units the ability to stand after battle. Players may also want to play Tidal Assault and Magnum Assault in the deck. They serve as good backups if you are forced to ride a different grade 3 Maelstrom. Both rear-guards have the ability to stand after battling a vanguard.
Finally, Blue Storm Breaking Dragon, Engulf Maelstrom’s second skill activates if your G-Zone has two or more face up cards with Maelstrom in their names. Blue Storm Breaking Dragon, Engulf Maelstrom gains 5,000 power and an additional critical. The second skill perfectly complements the first skill. The power adds more pressure when your opponent’s defensive options are limited. The extra damage can seal the deal if your opponent is unable to guard.

Overall, Blue Storm Breaking Dragon, Engulf Maelstrom is a great ace for Maelstrom. I would love to use it during my final turn for an epic conclusion. Its’ skills can be terrifying if a player has five cards with Maelstrom in their names in the soul. It attacks like a powerful storm in the ocean. Opponents will struggle to defend their vanguards and an extra critical is added to the vanguard’. Blue Storm Breaking Dragon, Engulf Maelstrom will engulf your opponents in a tidal wave!
