D-Standard Format:
Carefree After Class, Huolette is a card for the main deck. Both of her abilities activate effects when she is a rear-guard. She does not fit in the ride deck because she only provides a body of a unit with 10,000 power as a vanguard.
First Ability:
Carefree After Class, Huolette gains 5,000 power and boost if you have a grade three vanguard with Kairi when you place her on a rear-guard circle. This unit becomes a booster with this ability. You can place her in the front row for offense or the back row to be a booster.
Therefore, Carefree After Class, Huolette is an effective rear-guard in the back row. She can boost a rear-guard or the vanguard. Carefree After Class, Huolette is a booster with 15,000 power, and provides a strong boost to a unit in the front row.
Furthermore, you can create strong columns with Carefree After Class, Huolette. Soaring Bubble, Penelopp and Carefree After Class, Huolette are a strong duo on offense. Both rear-guards gain power from their abilities. Soaring Bubble, Penelopp gains 5,000 power from her ability. Therefore, Soaring Bubble, Penelopp has a total of 30,000 power with the boost from Carefree After Class, Huolette!
Second Ability:
Carefree After Class, Huolette goes to the soul at the end of your turn. Then, you may draw a card and return up to one rear-guard for every two grades of your vanguard with Kairi in its name. This ability provides resources for your strategy. It provides protection for your rear-guards because they are now in your hand instead of the field.
Furthermore, this ability of Carefree After Class, Huolette has strong synergy with Astesice×Live, Kairi. Astesice×Live, Kairi is a grade four vanguard and her being grade four allows you to return up to two rear-guards to your hand. You will be in position to play those units on your next turn or use their shields for defense during the opponent’s next turn.
This ability enables multiple activations of auto abilities when rear-guards are placed on the field. For example, Step By Step, Lezity sends a card with Astesice in its name from the drop zone into the soul when you place her on the field. Carefree After Class, Huolette may return Step By Step, Lezity to the hand at the end of the turn. Then, you may call Step By Step, Lezity during your next turn and reactivate her ability.
In addition, the second purpose of this ability is building the soul. Astesice, Kairi uses the soul for the cost of her first ability. Carefree After Class, Huolette is fueling these abilities for your next turn.
This ability of Carefree After Class, Huolette costs one counterblast. The cost of this ability is manageable during the early game when you can afford the costs of this card. Several cards in the archetype use counterblasts such as Astesice△Live, Kairi and Brilliance and Elegance, Aerith. However, you must prioritize counterblasts for Astesice△Live, Kairi in the late game.
Support:
Carefree After Class, Huolette fits in decks with all versions of Kairi. This card works best in a deck centered around Kairi. Some cards in the archetype require mermaids and those cards do not have synergy with Carefree After Class, Huolette because this grade two unit is a warbeast. It is recommended to play Carefree After Class, Huolette in a deck of cards with effects without the requirement for mermaids.
Furthermore, Light in the Sea, Laterna is another rear-guard with offensive synergy with Carefree After Class, Huolette. A column with these units pressures the opponent in battle. Light in the Sea, Laterna gains 5,000 power when your vanguard is a mermaid, and Kairi meets the requirement. Carefree After Class, Huolette has an advantage against many decks. She counters some control decks because she protects your rear-guards. This grade two unit returns rear-guards to the hand. Some decks will be unable to affect your rear-guards because they are now in your hand.
Carefree After Class, Huolette is a useful card against many decks from Dragon Empire with strategies to retire rear-guards. Decks from this nation control the field and retire the opponent’s rear-guards. Carefree After Class, Huolette protects your resources with her second ability. She can return one to two rear-guards to your hand. Your opponent will be unable to retire those rear-guards to the drop zone.
Matchups: Weaknesses
Carefree After Class, Huolette has disadvantages against decks with the ability to remove cards from the hand. Aurora Battle Princess can force opponents to place a card from the hand into a prison. Alphard from Dragon Empire forces opponents to discard a card.
For instance, Aurora Fierce Princess, Seraph Purelight strongly counters the strategy for Kairi’s support such as Carefree After Class, Huolette. Aurora Fierce Princess, Seraph Purelight forces the opponent to place two cards from his or her hand into a prison. You must pay a cost to regain those units from the prison. You will ultimately lose resources because the requirement to regain those cards is a cost.
The archetype of Alphard from Dragon Empire counters this strategy with Carefree After Class, Huolette. Piercing Thunder Dragon, Alphard “Fantôme” forces you to discard a card when it cannot retire any of your rear-guards. You cannot hide your cards from this archetype. Carefree After Class, Huolette returns your rear-guards to the hand but Piercing Thunder Dragon, Alphard “Fantôme” will force you to discard one of those cards. Your strategy loses a key card.
Premium Format:
Carefree After Class, Huolette is a legal card for Bermuda Triangle in the Premium Format. She requires a deck with Kairi and generic G-Units from Bermuda Triangle. She will be in a casual deck because her archetype was designed for the D-Standard Format. Decks with Kairi are slow in the Premium Format. The archetype uses persona ride and has a grade four vanguard in the main deck.
For instance, Radiate Ocean, Heltrauda and Carefree After Class, Huolette complement each other with their abilities. Radiate Ocean, Heltrauda is a G-Unit with the ability to return all rear-guards to the hand. In addition, this G-Unit superior calls two cards from the hand. Radiate Ocean, Heltrauda returns to the G-Zone and stands your vanguard.
Therefore, Radiate Ocean, Heltrauda creates multiple battles with Carefree After Class, Huolette, and the heart becomes the vanguard for an additional battle. This strategy enables five or six battles, and multiple battles from this strategy can overwhelm an opponent. Carefree After Class, Huolette can attack the opponent or boost a rear-guard in a battle. Then, this G-Unit returns this grade two rear-guard to the hand and superior calls this same grade two rear-guard for another battle.
