Unit of The Week: Swordsman of Light, Ahmes

And so, his bravery becomes his sword.

[AUTO](RC):[Counter Blast (1)] When this unit’s attack hits a vanguard, if you have a vanguard with “Alfred” in its card name, you may pay the cost. If you do, search your deck for up to one card with “Blaster Blade” in its card name, call it to the (RC) with this unit, shuffle your deck, choose one of that unit’s [AUTO], and until end of turn, its cost becomes [(0)] until the next time it is paid. (A (0) cost is paid by declaring that you are paying it)

We have seen many forms of Blaster Blade as a grade 2 and grade 3. Blaster Blade was once known as Swordsman of Light, Ahmes before he found the legendary sword. King Alfred trusts Blaster Blade the most among his troops. He later became the legendary warrior, who saved Cray from Link Joker and the Void. Ahmes is in  Alfred’s archetype and Blaster Blade’s archetype. You need to play both Alfred and Blaster Blade to use Ahmes to his fullest potential and unlock the legendary Blaster Blade!

Ahmes is Alfred’s 11K attacker. He gains 2,000 if you have Alfred as your vanguard. He perfectly fits in decks with King of Knights, Alfred and Light Source Seeker, Alfred Exiv! It is a bit disappointing for him not being a 12K attacker, but this does slightly balance him. Boost him with Toypugal and his power will become 20,000!

Ahmes grows into his more mature form as Blaster Blade. When his attack hits a vanguard if you have Alfred as your vanguard, then a card with Blaster Blade in its name is superior called to replace Ahmes. He gives one more attack for the turn. Blaster Blade’s skill cost becomes zero. Ahmes’s ability makes it easier to play Blaster Blade as his skill’s original cost is two. You can freely retire an opposing rear-guard.

Furthermore, you can also use Ahmes’s skill to search for Blaster Blade Burst, Blaster Blade Seeker and Blaster Blade Spirit. Blaster Blade Spirit is the strongest grade 2 version of Blaster Blade and hit weaker grade 3 vanguards without a boost. Blaster Blade Spirit and Blaster Blade Seeker get the job done just like the original Blaster Blade by retiring an opposing rear-guard. There is not a benefit from superior calling Blaster Blade Burst. He would be fun to play.

Overall, Swordsman of Light, Ahmes is one of the most resourceful to play in an Alfred deck that uses a form of Blaster Blade. Being able to retire opposing rear-guards for free is a nice advantage. His skill searches for any Blaster Blade card such as Blaster Blade, Blaster Blade Seeker, and Blaster Blade Spirit! You can save your counter blasts for your strongest skills. Superior call my avatar! Blaster Blade!
