If a “HERO” monster is Normal or Special Summoned to your zone this card points to: Target 1 “Polymerization” Spell Card, 1 “Fusion” Spell Card, or “Change” Quick-Play Spell Card in your GY; Set that target. You can only use this effect of “Xtra HERO Wonder Driver” once per turn. If this card is destroyed by battle and sent to the GY, or if this card in your possession is destroyed by an opponent’s card effect and sent to your GY: You can Special Summon 1 “HERO” monster from your hand.
Xtra HERO Wonder Driver is a Link Monster, and he is one of the few Link Monsters with HERO in its name. His effects support all HERO monsters. Xtra HERO Wonder Drive has two effective abilities to regain resources and special summon a HERO monster. Many players may consider playing Xtra HERO Wonder Drive for his ability to add a Polymerization from the graveyard to a player’s hand. The ability supports the archetype’s main strategy.
First Effect
Xtra HERO Wonder Driver adds a Polymerization or Change Quick-Play Spell Card from your graveyard to your hand when a HERO is summoned to your zone that this card points to. This effect has chemistry with all types of HERO monsters. You regain Polymerization or Mask-Change after you use it and summon a HERO to the correct zone. This ability can be used once per turn. You may regain a Polymerization or Mask-Change during every turn.
In addition, Polymerization is one of the most important cards in a HERO deck. You need it to special summon Fusion Monsters. Xtra HERO Wonder Drive allows you to recycle the card. You may quickly play it or save it to summon another Fusion Monster. I prefer to save Polymerization in my hand, and play it when I need a new HERO on the field.
Second Effect
If your opponent destroys Xtra HERO Wonder Driver by battle or a card’s effect, then you may special summon a HERO from your hand. This effect helps you to maintain a strong field. A new monster will protect your life points from additional battles during that turn. Some monsters may have effects that will activate when you summon those monsters to the field.
Furthermore, Elemental HERO Stratos has synergy with Xtra HERO Wonder Drive’s second effect! One of the effects from Elemental HERO Stratos activates when you summon him! You can add a HERO monster from the deck to your hand, or you can destroy cards in your opponent’s back row.
