Once per turn, when another Level 5 or higher monster activates its effect on the field (Quick Effect): You can negate the activation, and if you do, destroy it. If this card’s effect destroys a monster, this card gains ATK equal to the destroyed monster’s original ATK until the end of this turn.

Clear Wing Synchro Dragon is a powerful synchro monster. It was first printed in Crossed Souls. It is a generic card, and you may play it in any deck. This card is also a member of the archetypes of Clear Wing and Synchro Dragon. It has respectable status of 2,500 ATK and 2,000 DEF. This synchro monster has two powerful effects.

Synchro Summon:

Clear Wing Synchro Dragon requires one tuner and one or more non-tuner monsters for materials. These requirements are easy conditions. You may use a variety of materials for this synchro summon.

Furthermore, one of the best tuner monsters for material is Revolution Synchron. You may use Revolution Synchron as material from your hand. This tuner provides a quick and easy strategy for the synchro summon of Clear Wing Synchro Dragon.

First Effect:

Clear Wing Synchro Dragon negates the activation of a level 5 or higher monster’s effect and destroys the monster. It effectively counters the opponent’s strategy. This synchro monster negates the opponent’s card effect from their monster and they lose the monster from its destruction by this effect.

Furthermore, Clear Wing Synchro Dragon is an effective monster against decks with many level 5 or higher monsters. It consistently negates the effects of those decks’ best monsters. You can avoid some of an opponent’s best effects from their monsters.

For example, Clear Wing Synchro Dragon is an effective synchro monster against Blue-Eyes and Monarch because these archetypes have many level 5 or higher monsters. This synchro monster can consistently negate the effects of monsters from these archetypes. 

Second Effect:

Clear Wing Synchro Dragon may negate the effect of any monster targeting a level 5 or higher monster. In addition, Clear Wing Synchro Dragon destroys the monster after the activation of its effects and Clear Wing Synchro Dragon gains the original ATK of the monster until the end of the turn. This synchro monster provides protection and offense in a single effect. The opponent loses his or her monster.

Therefore, this effect provides protection for Clear Wing Synchro Dragon and your other level 5 or higher monsters from any opposing monster. It does not have a restriction on the opposing monster’s level unlike the fist effect. This wide protection is a useful ability. 

Furthermore, Clear Wing Synchro Dragon has a strong wall of protection. This synchro monster may negate two of opponent’s card effects from his or her monsters in a single turn. It forces the opponent to use a spell or trap to destroy this card with a card’s effect.

In addition, Clear Wing Synchro Dragon gains the ATK of the monster after you destroy it. This effect provides a variety of strategies. You can gain ATK from the opponent’s monster. You also have the option to negate one of your monsters’ effects and Clear Wing Synchro Dragon gains the original ATK of your monster.

Weakness:

However, Clear Wing Synchro Dragon cannot respond to all types of cards. These effects only provide protection from monsters’ card effects. This synchro monster does not negate spells and traps. Certain cards have an advantage over this card. Some cards do not allow other cards to respond to their activations.

For example, Super Polymerization bypasses this synchro monster’s effects. Cards cannot respond to the activation of Super Polymerization. It is a good spell card to remove Clear Wing Synchro Dragon from the field.

Support:

Clear Wing Synchro Dragon has a lot of effective support and unique support. It has support from archetypes such as Clear Wing and Synchro Dragon. Generic cards for synchro monsters and dragons have combos with this card.

For example, Ultimaya Tzolkin may special summon Clear Wing Synchro Dragon from the extra deck. These cards have a unique wall of protection. Clear Wing Synchro Dragon may protect itself from monsters’ effects. In addition,  opponents cannot battle Ultimaya Tzolkin, and opponents’ card effects are unable to target Ultimaya Tzolkin.

Anime History:

Yugo plays Clear Wing Synchro Dragon in his deck. The first appearance of this card in a duel is in episode 37 of Yu-Gi-Oh! ARC-V. Yugo synchro summons this card in a duel against Yuto. Clear Wing Synchro Dragon destroys Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon in battle, and Yugo wins the duel. 

Card Rating:

Overall, Clear Wing Synchro Dragon is a good synchro monster, and a fair card. This synchro monster is a generic card, and you may easily play it in any deck. It has effective and powerful effects. This card provides protection from the card effects of your opponent’s monsters. Therefore, I recommend playing Clear Wing Synchro Dragon in your deck with synchro monsters.
