I command you under the name of the King of Knights! Warriors, heed my call!
[CONT](VC):Your units cannot boost this unit.
[CONT](VC):During your turn, this unit gets [Power]+2000 for each of your «Royal Paladin» rear-guards.
[ACT](VC/RC):[Counter Blast (3)] Search your deck for up to one grade 2 or less «Royal Paladin», call it to (RC), and shuffle your deck.
Bow down to the king! King of Knights, Alfred is one of the most popular Royal Paladin units in the game. He is Aichi’s tribute card in season 1. He is one of my only two SP cards; my other SP card is Blaster Blade. That’s ironic!
Alfred is a solid 20,000 attacker unit as long as you have 5 rear guard Royal Paladin units. This makes up for his inability to be boosted. He forces the player to strongly commit to the field. This isn’t a bad thing unless you’re losing in card advantage. Most importantly he is attacking with stage 2 power against crossride units.
Furthermore, his second skill can be used as a vanguard or rear guard. He is able to superior call power units to give himself more power. It can be a useful combo with Blaster Blade because Blaster Blade’s skill can be triggered if you still have two face up damage cards.
In conclusion, Alfred is a fine addition to Royal Paladin decks. He can perfectly fit in all Royal Paladin decks due to his powerful vanguard skill. He is a high power offensive vanguard. If you’re willing to commit early to a field then he is the best choice for the deck’s featured grade 3 unit.
