Black Gravers are an exclusive series or archetype of cards for Angel Feather. Bushiroad introduced this archetype in Booster Set 4: Soul Strike Against The Supreme. Most cards in this series have Black in their names. However, some cards do not have Black in their names such as Nurse of Broken Heart. The majority of units in this series wear black uniforms.
Some cards in the series require a vanguard with Black in its name. Bushiroad first introduced these cards in V Booster Set 12: Divine Lightning Radiance. However, this does not have a major impact in the archetype. All forms of Gavrail have black in their names, and the majority of cards in the archetype also have black in their names.

Strategy: Rescue Check
Black Gravers are manipulators of the damage zone. Their abilities send cards from the damage zone to the drop zone or add a card from the damage zone to their hand. Then, their abilities deal one damage to your vanguard. Most of these units activate their skills during your turn. Some units have the keyword of Rescue Check, and it is the official name of the Black Gravers’ strategy.
Furthermore, the goal is performing many checks during your main phase before the battle phase with your vanguard’s drive checks. Black Gravers have many opportunities to reveal triggers during these checks. Your units gain the effects of these triggers.
For example, Black Shiver, Gavrail (V Series) performs two damage checks with her second ability. She sends one card from the damage zone to the bottom of your deck and she adds one card from the damage zone to your hand. Then, her ability performs two damage checks with two opportunities for triggers.
The cards from the V Series do not have the term of Rescue Check in their text. Their abilities are basically the same skill. They recover damage or return a card from the damage zone to your hand. Then, you perform a damage check during your turn.

Imaginary Gift: Protect
Angel Feather’s Imaginary Gift is Protect. The best option is Protect I. The archetype has a defensive strategy and the perfect guard is the best choice of defense for the Black Gravers.
In addition, Black Shiver, Gavrail (V Series) and Black Observe, Hamiel are the only cards in the archetype with the marker. They are perfect cards for the archetype in the Premium and V-Premium Formats. They provide a perfect defense against many opponents.
